You are currently assigned to USS Raven, you requested and was granted a ten day leave. You decided to take your leave on your home world of Bajor. Its a 3 day shuttle trip.
On the return to the Raven you receive a distress call from a freighter. She identified herself as the golden fleece. She's carrying standard cargo. She lost engines and navigation, and is drifting into Cardassian space not far from Almatha, AKA Outpost 61. Several Union patrol vessels have warned the freighter to turn around or it will be captured.
If you stop and render aide you'll be returning late to the Raven. You also know your on an active shipping route. So it wouldn't be long before help arrives. What will you do?

I send a subspace communication to the USS Raven letting them know of the Cargo ships Plight. and I immediately alter course and speed to intercept the cargo ship that is in distress. therefore my ship knows of my location and will revendeau there accordingly and I cannot abandon my drive to "protect and serve" to the best of my abilities. being Cardassian I would also try to pull a few strings on my side of the planet and being a Cardassian I would have every right to help the distressed ship, in fact I am be a vital assest to the preservation of the ship and it's contents.\
Westmore out.

::Stands AA:: First, being aboard a shuttle, I would set out a locator bouy, with ship logs and last mission, and send a subspace message to the Raven. I would also message any other vessel in the vincinity who were available to assist, then move to an intercept course. I would then try to tractor the vessel to drift the opposite direction of space. As a secondary measure (if arrival would be too late), I would transport the frieghters compliment aboard my vessel. I would then destroy the frieghter if assistance wasn't within range.
The primary duty of any Starfleet Officer is to the citizens of the Federation, and their safety and security. Also, if I was the closest vessel, such an infringement upon 'enemy' borders could lead to war. Thus, if that vessel crosses Union boarders it could mean war... destroying the vessel prevents infringement upon Union Territory. It is that first duty that I base my solution off of.

Zar listens as the computer gives the scenario.
She takes a moment to think and then smiles. The first thing I would do is it to send a transmission to the Raven giving my location, and a copy of the distress call. I would also send out a transmission to any other ships nearby
I would then go on an intercept course to assist the freighter. Once near the freighter I would begin to transport the crew.

Enters the holodeck and listens to the scenario and its directives. Eviess stood at attention. "Computer begin recording"
I would immediately send out a call to the USS Raven, informing them of my position, the computer copy of the distress call. Following that, I would send a transmission to all ships within the area, for assistance.
Then I would proceed at maximum warp on an intercept course to the freighter. Dropping out of warp I would attempt a tractor beam should that fail. I would then transport the crew and once they are aboard safely. I would destroy the freighter. Better its destruction then the Cardassians see this as an act of war.

First I would send out a Locator bouey with full logs. I would head to the ship in distress and use my ships tractor beam to try to head the disabled ship to this side of the boarder then render all help I could untill other ships arrive.

::Had steped into the holosuite and begun to listen to the playback of the scenario. After the playback finishes, he begin to think for a minute.:: First.. I'll relay a message to the freighter that I've received the distress call. Then I'll scan the area to see if there is a federation ship nearby and how far it is to the freighter. Also, I will relay a message to the outpost that I've received a distress call from the freighter and will try to help them to navigate them away from their space. Then relay the distress call to them and that I will be needing assistance of helping the freighter. I will do what I can to help the freighter to navigate away from Cardiassian space, by using the tractor beam. Towing them away from the Cardiassian space. As I do so, I'll relay a message to USS Raven about the delay.
Computer.. end program.
::The program ends and he steps out of the holosuite.::

::He walks into the holosuite.::
Computer.. Begin program
::He begun to listen to the playback of the scenario. He pondered for a minute before he had spoken.::
First.. I would have contact the freighter to let them know that I'm willing to aid them in what ever possible. Then I would have tell USS Raven of the delay of my returning and the situation. I would have also check for any other federation ships in the vicinity to help as well. Until a Federation ship arrives, I would start transporting the crew onto the shuttle and try at least to tow the freighter.
Computer.. end program..
::The program ends and he exits the holosuite.::

I would first tell the Raven about the situation get them to alter course to meet up with me at the same spot that the Golden Fleece is then i would fly there and use my tractor beam to tow them the safty and wait till the Raven arrives to escort the ship to a nearby starbase.

Major Arishela walks in and listens as the computer begins to lay out the scenario. She nods as it finishes and then smiles. This is no challenge, but should be enjoyable. Computer begin recording.
First I would set out a buoy with logs of the transmission I received and that I was on my way to intercept and render aid. While on route I would inform the Raven of the situation and that I would be late in returning. Then I would attempt to use the tractor beam. If this failed, I would then begin transport of the crew and its cargo.
But only as a last resort would I destroy the ship so it would not enter their space and be perceived as an act of war at worst or a prelude to one.
Computer end program....................

After establishing coodinates of the ship in distress, I would contact the Raven and tell them I would be late, or suggest that they alter their course and meet me at the diabled supply ship. I would offer a 3rd suggestion that the Raven call for additional assistance, then I would change course to head for the supply ship and help them as best I could before the Raven and any other ship could arrive and offer assistance

Knowing it was only the first day of travel from Bajor, I would render assistance after send a subspace message to the Raven. The choices from there are up yo the CO. Either render assistance if they are in the area, or signal another Starship for assistance. Also, DS9 should be close by, so assistance is closer then you think.

After listening to the scenario she begins.
I would send a transmission to the Raven informing them of the situation and my current location. In addition I would send out a general transmission to all ships in the area, including a locator buoy.
I would then inform the freighter I was a the way along with my ETA. Once there I would use tractors to pull them further into Federation space.
If I arrived too late to tractor them or could not do so for some reason I would then transport the crew to the shuttle. I would then destroy the freighter, to ensure this would not lead to an intergalactic incident.

I would send a mesage to the Raven and inform them of the situation, and launch a marker beacon with logs from the shuttle. Then I would alter course and speed to intercept. Once there I would tractor, if i could, the ship out of Cardassian threat, and when the Raven gets there would aid them in repairs if they desire.
>>End Scenario

Post by 1st Lt Kestra Elbrun on May 5, 2005 20:28:28 GMT -5
Kestra walked into the holodeck and begun to listen to the scenario.
Ensign Elbrun: "I would relay a message to the Raven about the distress call and tell them that I'll be late because since that I will help the ship back into Federation territory. I would also ask them to meet me half way to them since that I will be towing away from the Cardassian space. Once I meet up with the Golden Fleece, I would use the tractor beam and help tow them at the designated area that I would meet up with USS Raven. The engineers on USS Raven should be able to help with the engines and navigations."
Kestra ended the program and walked out of the holodeck.
