There was an uncomfortable silence after the meeting. Lew knew that the Bajoran was never much of a talker, but this was different. She was silent by choice, but by restraint. Normally, she didn't have much to say but now she seemed to have too much. Her eyes betray a glare of pure fire and her hands were clinched. His first thought was to say nothing, but the curiosity of a man needing to understand overrode the thought. They were already in the marine barracks and needed to confiscate Greathouse's hand phaser from the weapons locker. " I don't suppose you wish to discuss it?"

First, I want to examine the phaser personally and second: It doesn't take a genius to see that you upset about something that was said. Either you can continue to brood or you can vent. with me, you don't have to worry about reprocussions.

To her another insult was added, Navy had to personally examine the phaser as if she were incapable of doing that, and reporting the findings. She involuntary sighed.
"As you wish, exam it and give your report. I'll let you talk to the quartermaster." There was a harshness to her voice, that was usually not present.

He steps in front of her breaking her stride almost allowing her to run into him so that they are eye to eye. I'm no Marine, and I'm certain you could wipe up the floor with me in a hand to hand situation, but if thats what it will take for you to talk to me instead of around me I'll do it. I don't know why you've taken this tac but I''m not your enemy. I thought we were on the same side.

He thinks out loud. "Overzelous' He turns and walks in lock stop with her. "This is about what the Captain said at the meeting. Surely you can't believe it was a direct slam on his or any Fleet Marines by him?"

No, damn it! .His gaze met hers. You started this and we need to finish it. You may think I'm being some sort of 'Fleet snob', but I consider Clyde a friend. When I first got on Aryes and no one knew me he offered me his hand sight unseen and without reservation. If I'm a little possessive about this maybe I'm upset too. I want a bigger hand in helping my friend but we all have to follow orders. I respect you and your Marines and so does the Captain so if you want have a problem lets here it.
