She smiled at the doctor's greeting. Did he preface every conversation with a question about how a person felt?
"As well as I was the last time you enquired, doctor and yes, as my shift's just ended and as you indicated that it shouldn't take long, it seemed like a good time to stop in."

he nodded slowly sitting down in a chair "nope this doesn't take long at all, just a few questions and real quick scan is all I need"
He paused for a momant to see if she had any objections "okay, so... Since your last physical have you had any troubles sleeping, nightmares, unexplained fevers, aches or pains?"
He paused and thought for a momant, he had lost his train of thought "oh yes, or anything else that seemed out of the ordinary... Yes, I do realize we're in space, so everything seems out of the ordinary" he'd smile trying to indicate that was a joke.

"None at all and if I had, I wouldn't have hesitated to seek help. It surprises me that people so often think nothing of something they ought to consider important. They're perfectly rational individuals most of the time but if they haven't slept in a week due to recurring nightmares, they just shrug it off until it becomes debilitating and then they decide they "may" need some help."
She grinned back. "If you don't mind me grilling you a little in return, how long have you been here, Doctor?"

he noted her responces on the PADD then grabbed his medical tricorder, even though he knew it would probably come up 'clear' its protocol. He then proceeded to take baseline scans of her biosigns to include brain scans.
"I've been on the Ayres for 2 years now... Though a year of that was spent in a coma here in sickbay. Anyways, I dont think I could ever leave the Ayres, I've grown attached to the ship and its crew" He sat down as he let the computer process the scans "its kind of funny actually... I dont think the crew realizes how much I care about everyone; trust me, this ship grows on you"

She smiled. "I don't think they could find a better person for the job. Even in the short amount of time I've been here, your passion for it has been apparent."
The smile turned thoughtful. "There's definitely something about Aryes and Captain Shran in particular. This may not have been the best move for my career, but I don't think I'll ever regret making it."
She watched as he continued his scanning." If you don't mind me asking, what caused the coma? It must have been a very serious injury."

he looked at the results from her scans and updated the ships computers with the updated physical, naturally sickbays files are encrypted to ensure confidentality. "thank you, I actually enjoy being the ships doctor. I find it to be very fulfilling."
he then sat back in his chair when she asked him about his coma then shook his head "no, one thing you learn in medicine is that even the smallest microorganism can be more dangerous then the borg... Our former commanding officer was attacked on the bridge of Ayres and recieved a deep laceration to his chest from some sort of natural weapon that was part of the aliens arms, that slice went down to his heart which caused it to stop beating. I hade to do a artifical heart transplant"
he paused as he was taking back to that momant "I thought I had enough protective gear but apparently not, after the surgury we learned that the blade was coated with some sort of bacteria and I some how became infected... The results of that infected caused a chain reaction of events that led me into a coma... I honestly dont remember anything after the surgury, a year of my life is completely blank."
"anyways, when I woke up I was paralyzed because my muscles atropined, mostly my recovery is thanks to Cindy. She helped me a lot during my recovery... During our last mission I got 'infected' again by a genetics specialist. Which was actually a good thing because without contracting that I would be walking with a cane for the rest of my life"
he paused to see if she was curious on anything else....

"So, the one infection counteracted the effects of the other? That's quite a story. I think I have a lot of homework to do in studying Aryes' previous missions. It wouldn't do to run into something that all of you had prior experience with and I had no idea what to do." She laughed.

he laughed an nodded "yes story of my life in a nut shell... Other then that theres really not much to tell but if you'd like to know anything else I'm basically an 'open book"
He paused once more to see if there was anything else, part of him wanted to get to know Kiele the other half was hesitent.

"I doubt that the last two years represent your entire life and it would be nice to get to know you but it doesn't have to be done all in one session." She laughed. "When you're not busy dissecting, sewing or sawing, we can find some more time to talk and if you like, you can ask me something about myself as well. I warn you though, as a former counselor, I may not be able to resist giving advice."

"sure we can do that" He got up as he finished updating the computer in starfleet medicals encrypted files "well anyways, your free to go, your physical is done"
there was a long pause before he exited the room "thanks for coming down by the way, it was nice to just talk to someone who wasn't having an emergency" clearly, he doesn't get out much, part of that is his own fault, he found comfort in sickbay. It was usually a place that made sense to him there was always cause and effect here and occasionaly found the 'mysteries' thrilling.

She gave him a warm smile. "We all have places where we're most comfortable. Don't let that keep you from experiencing all of the other joys life has to offer you. "

"Is that a fact? Where are you most comfortable?" he looked to her curiously as he was trying to figure her out. Kiele definently seemed differant then everyone else on the ship but he couldn't pin point in what way.

"In my head and in others' on occasion. There's control in knowledge and understanding. I've spent the majority of my time in Starfleet on analytical pursuits, but something's changed recently and I discovered I want a position that's more active, more integrated with the ship. Ops allows me to take those analytical and organizational skills and transfer them to the bridge. There's a great deal of satisfaction in being responsible for the smooth operation of all the various routines that keep the ship running." She spoke enthusiastically, her eyes sparkling. "I was Operations officer on Pegasus as well, but as the flagship, Pegasus is most often engaged in diplomatic duties. I hadn't realized there was something more I wanted until I was assigned to accompany Captain Shran on this last mission and it was then I decided to request the transfer here."

"well then I can assure you, the Ayres will give you more to do then you bargained for. I dont mean to boost or to add hype but I personally think your on the best ship in the fleet... Then again I could be partial, I've been on this ship since my graduation from starfleet medical, but time and time again I've seen the Ayres pull through some of the most difficult of occasions some sometimes situations that starfleet doesn't prepare you for" he sat back down, clearly he loved this ship and those onboard... To him, they where like family.
