He sighed. He felt bad for her, but at the same time did not. Everyone here did this for a reason only they knew, whether they were concious of it or not.
How could they not ract so? They lived in a day of grat automation and conveniences unlike any their ancestors ever enjoyed. They would all have to widthdraw from the "sterile comfort" of a technological existence.
And why do this? Because mankind can't allow himself to forget that we are a part of the natural world. We can enjoy our technology but we must not forget that we are the natural beings we are. That we have instincts, intuition, that we can adapt and survive.
We cannot allow ourselves to get so far removed from our natural realm, for if we do, we may end up no better than races like the Borg.
"Hitome, don't sell yourself short. You go this position because you were the right person for the job. Maybe it's because you're a less experienced Doctor. Most Physicians I know have grown cynical and have forgotten things like compassion. Most are businessmen."
"I think you're here because that wasn't enough for you."
He continued. "Being afraid doesn't make you less of a Dr, it makes you more of a human. Maybe this colony doesn't need an experienced Dr. maybe it needs compassion. Humanity."
"Ok, Hitome, 'Confucious' is finished for now." he laughs.

Hitomi had to smile a bit at the Confucious comment. "He's Chinese, not Japanese." she turned to face him, her little bit of feeling sorry for herself broken. One of the good things about being young, she could be distracted easily enough with the proper stimulus.
"and you are right. I guess my over-active imagination ram away with me there. It does that on occasion."
Again she looked up and down the beach and it's surrounds, wondering how Skye's little trip inland was doing and tried best not to worry about her getting hurt. It did seem a shame to ruin this planet, but Ravin was right, perhaps they were the least of all the evils that could be perpertrated on this beautiful place.

They reached the end of the forest path and then stepped onto the beach. Skye took the longer route back along the rising shore line as the tide came in. The feel of the ocean water was enjoyable and refreshing.
Once they reached the Doctor and the governor Skye smiled as she dug out what passed for an apple. "Here Doctor a gift fer ya, since it resembles and apple, yer know the saying an apple a day keeps the doctor away." She laughed "Honestly Doctor I like yer just not doctors that much." She then waited for Arron to speak up.

He laughed. "Sure, nothing for the Governor, huh? I'm the one you should be buttering up!" He laughed again.
"Just kidding, Skye. I'd be interested in hearing how you and Aaron made out and what you found."
He paused a moment. Glad that they had returned. Perhaps Skye's cheerful nature would further elevate the Doctor's mood.
"Hitome, I'd like you to check everyone out as they come back to the ship. And make sure," He looked at Aaron and Skye, "That you brush off anything you may have picked up in the woods. We should all run clothing through the biofilters."
"If I sound too alarmist, maybe I am, but you never know. We don;t want to bring anything back to the Mercury other than souvenirs."
He smiled again, once again checking the scanners. They were already running and beginning to extrapolate data on the ecosystem.

Hitomi nodded, getting back into Doctor mode as she pulled out her tricorder and began running it over the pair. It made all the obediant noises as sit checked them out from the outside layers of their clothes to the inner most regions of their bodies. Almost everything checked out.
"I am going to have to give you two, and everyone else who is on this visit an immune booster. As it is, we are all probably going to have a case of 'Centarian Fever' as our bodies try to adapt to the bacteria, virusii, and anything else our bodies find foreign."

"Ach, governor did yer think we would ferget ya?" she shook her head. "Now lets see what Saint Andrew brought ya." Laughing she turned to her backpack digging out a cluster of what could be seen as very odd grapes or densely gowning berries. They were oval in shape and yellowish in color. She handed it to the governor

"A beautiful flower for a beautiful woman" he looks at Hitomi "Even thou your going give me a shot" he laughs The 'Apple' was nice and made her giggle lightly, she understood completely how Skye felt. Even as a Doctor herself, she hated the idea of visiting one. "Thankyou, Skye" She took a deep inhale of it's aroma and then put it aside into her medical bag. It was the flower though, that made her blush madly, embarissed and pleased at the same time. Wanting to hide behind Ravin, she stood her ground even though her skin went a pretty shade of pink. "Careful I do not make it hurt for this.

He sees Hitomi blush it was a pretty shade of pink, he knew she was a little embarrassed, He smiles at them all and to take the focuse from Hitomi he said "Skye and Me found a great site to build the Colony if this one is picked" he says
He then shows the photo's of the place A clearing with a stream in it, " Its 2.5 acres deep 6.8 archers long flat as a pancake, perfect site for the settlement we can build the dooms farm it crops and animals, theirs fruit we can harvest good site for the first year, I estimate its 3 miles to get there, plenty of room to expand the city as needed"

Troy was sitting by the shuttle when he seen Arron and Skye return from their patrol. They walked over to the doctor and the govermor's position and told them of what they found
He got up and walked over as Arron gave her a flower and colmplimented how pretty she looked.. again. Hitomi blushed with the compliment
He glanced over to Skye where she was holding what looked like an apple and a cluster of grapes. He smiled a bit since he loved grapes
He glanced back to Arron as he shown the group a picure of a peice of land located by a stream, pretty flat looking
He spoke up "personally, I like a few mountains around. No telling what the weather would be like around here and that looks like a prime area where a tornado would come through"

"Now lets see what Saint Andrew brought ya." Laughing she turned to her backpack digging out a cluster of what could be seen as very odd grapes or densely gowning berries. They smell very good. I wonder if these would make a good wine? I did a little of that back when I was a student as a hobby. It could be interesting, and perhaps our first planetary export."

She laughed at Arron's enthusiasm it was refreshing, compared to her more cautious nature. "His description of the area is very exact, in face value it looks idea. The water source is safe from primary scans, and working for Artifacts I know they would not let us come if the water was not safe. My primarily testing supports the reports I've read so far."
"Which leaves the question of wild life, fruits, vegetables, fish, along with the other things like nuts, berries. I tend to be very cautious and I would not be eating anything yet until I run more extensive testing. Both for nutritional and safety values."
"It would do us no good to eat and then die from bad nutrition. And we can safely assume that some of these would be posionous to us. Even if we native to this world all worlds have things which can not be tolerated and cause death. However, the few things we have here will be easy to test and I think the doctor will enjoy the testing it as much as I."
"Troy I love the ocean myself. I think we all have ideals but we'll need to keep in mind what is best for the general whole. And our reports will reflect that. Until we know the tides better the ocean front property shouldn't be considered." She laughed.
"Of course these are my thought and no matter where its decided I will discover what is safe to eat, grow, hunt, fish, etc. My job is simple that way."
"Later on it becomes more difficult."

"I look forward to seeing just what we have to work with as far as the indigenous plants and animals. Until then, we will have a supply of seeds so we can grow more familiar things in the meantime. We also have some fertilized chicken eggs in stasis. We'll be able to produce plenty of food until we can learn to rely on our new home."
"The fact that we brought these things opens us up to a world of hybriding as well. But all in good time."

"Well," He said replying to Aaron. "I didn't pack a picnic lunch or anything, So it looks like the replicator is on duty."
He tried to figure out what to do with the 'grapes' until they got back to the ship.
