"Would you like to join us Derral? I suppose your right on the Klingons being the only ones not to use as a means to avoid a conflict."
I wasn't very good at the fighting styles taught at the Bajoran Militia. My instructors kept telling me I would subconsciously slip back into the survival fighting I did at the camp. I guess as time passes that will change."

"please join us Derral and I agree the Klingons use thiers for attacks" he replies
"Martial arts is great for mental control but plain street fighting is always good" he smiles

"Thank you for the invitation. It will be instructional to join you."
He gets up, and steps over to the table the others are gathered at, "I believe this is the appropriate action? There is so much I still need to learn about living being's interactions.
"Though I have had little experience with Martial Arts or survival fighting, I do have many references in my data base to examine."

"Greetins to you Lieutenants. I do not know if this is definable as 'enjoyable', but it is educational. Even after all my years of service, there is so much to learn."

"Very true. As are experiences. Though much of what I see I do not have the proper background to fully analyze and integrate into my current matrix. Each time I believe I have properly integrated a new responce, another alternative is presented. There are times the options can be overwhelming."
He looks between the people at the table.

"Confused? Is that like when a variable does not fit into a calculation, so does not compute? If that is so, then you could say I get confused. "
He looks around the room a little, observing other tables, and listening to other conversations. "And, always there are more variables to analyze, and fit into pre-existing calculations for all circumstances."

"I have observed this. Though, in essence, I think that it is safe to say it always is a miscomputation of variables for a situation. Is this not so?"
He tilts his head to one side several centemeters too far in a calculated imitation of te human expression of inquiry.

"But at any rate confusion helps us learn" he says

"Or confusion can cause us to shut down where there is nothing but confusion for a prolonged period of time. Sometimes, we would be subjected to confusion for long periods of time. The guards said it keeps us in line."
"I never believed that all it really did for me was to cause headaches. Which you learned not to complain about, if you got too many. The Doctor at our camp was a neurosurgeon before being assigned at the camp. It was rumored he slipped up on a very important patient. Anyways, if you got to many he would cure the problem by surgery. For a very few it did work."
"But as I was saying, we would emotionally and intellectually shut down at too much confusion. Sort of like the way a console will shut down if too much is requested at once."
