Sector 001
TO:
Cmdr. Helen Grace
Commanding Officer
USS Aryes NCC 81204
Earth Spacedock
Stardate: 69006.45
Commander, I wish to once again congratulate you on your new command. I know you will not disappoint.
Your first official assignment is a critical one. I would not have assigned this particularly delicate and crucial mission to the Aryes at this time, but time is of the essence and your ship is the most powerful one we have still in spacedock.
At 0700 hours, Federation Ambassador Yllana Rilt will come aboard the Aryes with Ki Royshu, the Kasei of the Godai. You will make your way to the Godai home-world of Kimei, best possible speed. Once there you will beam both the Kasei and Ambassador Rilt to the surface of the planet and head out of Godai territory.
You will be the first Federation vessel to enter Godai territory in over a hundred years. Be wary, Commander, as the Godai are xenophobic isolationists. The Aryes has authorization to enter Godai space, but your presence will not be tolerated for longer than is necessary. They also value strength which is why the Aryes is being sent.
I trust this situation is in good hands.
Admiral H.F. Kennedy

Known Species Data: Godai
The Godai are a warrior culture that value strength in arms as well as martial honor. However, do not allow the semblance of honor to fool you. The political system of the Godai is quite complex and the scheming of Godai officials could rival even the best of the Romulan Senate.
The Godai Imperium consists of six star systems at the outer edge of Federation space on the Beta side. The Godai home-system consists of eight planets. The Godai home-world is a binary planet with class-M planetoid in synchronized orbit with a larger class-M planet. The planet is called Kimei while its sister is simply called the Planet of the Kasei.
The majority of the Godai population is found on Kimei, and like any developed world has industry, commercial, and the Godai Council. The smaller planetoid, (hereby referred to as) PK, is considered sacred, and all are forbidden to step onto its surface or even look upon its landscape, except for the Kasei and his designated attendants and consorts.
Godai society is set along rigid class lines. From what little information we have, there are 5 recognized classes in Godai society, but 7 unofficial classes. The first unofficial class is the Kasei himself. In Godai society the Kasei is considered a divine being meant to rule over all of the Godai Imperium. However, the Kasei's position as supreme ruler of the Imperium seems to be in name and title only. He has the worship and support of the average Godai citizen, but policy and real control of the government is exercised by the Honoo class.
The Honoo class consists of warriors and rulers. The Godai Council is made up of the most powerful warlords in Godai society that come together to decide policy and day to day control of the Imperium. The council is lead by the most powerful warlord who has the given title of Shuhi.
Below the Honoo class is the Tenkei class, which consists of the Imperium's Religious and Scientific leaders. The Godai do not see spirituality and science as exclusive concepts. Below them is the Washi class, which are made up of minor officials and government employees. The next class is the Tsuyu class made up of Godai's merchants and craftsman. The lowest recognized class is the Iwa class. This is the largest class and consists mostly of farmers and general laborers.
The last unrecognized class is the Mu, which literally translates as classless. These are the disgraced and the outcasts of society. Anyone who has brought honor on themselves or on their family are often times remanded to the Mu class. A member of the Mu is considered to be nothing more than the living dead as they are considered without purpose or true life.
First Contact with the Godai was initiated on Stardate 3076.54 by Captain Kavol of the USS Hawkins. The Hawkins encountered a Ryuu-class war-vessel on the edge of Federation space. The Godai ship powered up its weapons, (a show of strength out of respect for the Starfleet ship), while Captain Kavol, in command of the much less powerful science-vessel, did the logical action and raised his shields. The Godai took this as a show of weakness and disrespect. they immediately attacked the USS Hawkins and badly damaged her before she could manage to flee.
Over the past century there have been several first contact missions sent to Godai space, but most have been turned away with very little explanation. However the above Species Data was given in exchanged for similar data about the Federation, on stardate 3085.4.
