"Well if it isn't Darius. Where have you been, hiding out with the General." She burst out laughing.

"Besides that what have you been up? Any little ones on the way yet?"
Taking the beer she raises it, "May you be in heaven 10 mins before the Devil knows your gone." She smiles and then takes a drink.

Walking into the lounge part of Ten Forward, he looks around hoping to see Deb, but sighs when he can't immediately spot her.
"I hope I haven't been forgotten in the time I've been gone. Don't think so, according to that last run in on the bridge, but I can still worry. She was a little upset and cold." He mutters to himself, finding a table, and sits. Looking out at the starts, but seeing a head of coppery bronze hair.

She was sitting near the VP in Ten Forward looking at the stars. It was the stars that drew her to Star Fleet, and family tradition that took her to the Marines. She wondered when Drayce would return from his assignment.
She put her beer down and stood to leave when she saw him. Walking over she looked at him. "Drayce Summersby, well now, Tell me, where you planning on seeing me or not?"

Being jarred back to reality by the real presence of the one he's been dreaming of, he looks at her, his eyes full of hunger. Hunger for the sight of her, and hunger for her particular brand of beauty.
"I was actually praying that you were off duty, and I could see you before I had to turn in for the night."
He stands, and moves around behind a chair, pulling it out in invitation, "care to join me for a little while, or do you have plans?"

She smiled at him, sitting down in the offered chair.
"You do know I should make worry some. At least thats what my Ma and Da would tell me. But then they have not seen you, as I have. Tell me what you did while you were gone."

He pauses for a few moments, pushing her chair in slightly, the settles himself back in his own chair.
"I've been on special assignment with the USS Galeleo studying the area around that protostar the Expedition found. The one with that unusual life form?
"It has been fascinating, the power fluxuations varied so wildly, from 3 micron readings to 100 megawatt readings as the field fluxuated through the spectrum. It was gorgeous. And something so unexpected. We never knew what the next minute, the next second would bring.
"We started from 20 light years out, just to get a baseline reading on the system, and to let the neighbors know we were there, and non-threatening. After 3 days of readings at that distance, we took a day off to just simply evaluate the data we had amassed.
"Wow! What a show. It was exciting. The corona of the central sun was 1.5 light in diameter alone. Then you add the carona of the secondary! An additional .6 light. Unsure of where the dangerous radiation levels began, we started attempting to edge our way in at .01 impulse, and continued to take readings.
"At 18 light years distance from the secondary, we had to stop, as the neighbors decided to come pay us a visit. "
He shakes his head in amazement, "That was quite a tense couple of days, but we were able to establish some communications, and let them know that we were peaceful, and there only to observe and study the system, not to interfere. I'm glad I wasn't on that diplomatic team. From what I heard that was an unpleasant encounter. It seems there were a few things the Expedition failed to mention in her messages to Fleet Command.
"But, we were finally allowed to move in a little closer and launch our long range probes. Wow, the sheer bulk of data they sent back was amazing. For some reason, they seemed to think that I should have the primary role of colating the data. I just had no clue what I was actually looking at!
"Even with the data flowing in, spectrum analysis, solar cycle analysis, temperatures, radiation, light intensity, matter ejection, gravometric, and temporal analysis it was almost overwhelming.
"About the time we thought the probes had gotten all they could, and were about to recall them, was about the point I forgot what sleep was, because I had to keep answering questions about what was being seen. I don't think any one had ever seen anything like this before.
"I mean, who would think that a new binary sun system would have light spectrums from the 1.2 micons to the 100's of kilometer range all ready, and we think this one is only a few months old! It was beautiful.
"The radio, gamma, x-ray, alpha, and delta radiations were phenomenal. Watching the charts on those was as mesmerizing as watching the occasional cloud of solar dust which has been ignited. I've heard about the Aura Borialis upon Earth, and some of the images captured. Entrapping, I can tell you. "
Finally looking back at her, he smiles a little, "Though, not nearly as beautifly aesthetic as you. A few of the solar displays put off a coppery red color - just the same color as your hair - and I would be wrenched back to my work by someone yelling at me to get a reading, or to send them a batch of data.
"It was hard to keep you off my mind. I kept comparing certain portions of the displays to your eyes, hair, and the way you move. I was only too glad when they had enough data to work from, and the observation probes in place to continue amassing the data to come back."
Leaning accross the table, he whispers into her ear, "I missed you."

Glancing over at the felanoid. "I am sure that fresh meat could be arranged. Though, it would probably be your responsibility to keep it once it arrived."
