Sickbay; Surgical Bay 1
Sam smiled as the Doctor spoke to him, just before receiving the hypospray to put him to sleep “Easy for you to say Doc, I always have nightmares…” with a crooked smile, he went under.
Surprisingly, Sam did sleep fairly well, not dreaming much of anything; thanks to the medication he received. When he opened his eyes, he felt as if he had just closed them with only a few minutes going by, but he knew it hat to be longer as he felt refreshed from the sleep; 40 hrs without sleeping is a lot and his body needed it, even if only 2 hours.
Sam sat up in his bed, his body pretty tender all over, which he too attributed to the surgery. He didn’t feel different, other then his hands and face seem to have some additional ridges and a slight discoloration, but other then that he felt fine; albeit still preoccupied with thoughts of Ann... and the tap, tap, tapping.
He leaned back against the bio-bed, rubbing his knee and lower leg, a self comforting action he found himself doing from time to time. He would wait until either the medical staff released him or the Captain came to get him to head off for the Away Mission.

She walked back into the recovery room and looked at Grant sitting up. "I see you are feeling more alert." smiling she read the read outs on the bio bed. "Your doing very well. Here, let me help ya stand up."
As he stood she support him for a minute then let him stand on his own. "You'll be a wee bit tender for a few hours. But this is the worse ya be feeling. Any dizziness, nausea, anythin out of the ordinary I should know?" she was observing him he entire time with the trained eye of a physcian.

Sam leaned heavily on the Doctor MacAuley, unable to hold his full 200 lbs on his own, but he forced himself a little extra strength in the hope of not squashing the good Doctor. He was also surprised to find just how tender he actually was, and that his ‘augmented’ leg wasn’t bearing as much weight as it should.
He figured that the surgery combined with lack of sleep, the fatigue, actually had slowed his recovery slightly; but he’d make due. He looked up from his feet at the Doctor, once he was able to stand on his own, and thought a moment. He then realized that there was a sharp pain within his eyes and above his nose, which also made him a bit nauseous.
Quickly place one hand on the bed for balance and the other over his eyes, as they quickly seemed to ache from the light; he didn’t feel 100%. “Actually, I’m not feeling so hot… I think I have a migraine, I haven’t had one in almost 10 years.” He walked over, slowly, to the bed and sat down “But this is what it felt like, give or take a couple years…” he tried to smile but even his humor had a hard time overcoming the pain. Migraines had plagued Grant men for generations, but they didn’t occur often. He knew he was in good hands; he’d follow the instructions of the Doctor so he could be ready to go on the Away Mission.

She nodded as he told her of the migraine. "Lay back don now and let me check ya out." She helped him to lay back and turned on the scans reading the data as it appeared.
"Well, seems your diagnoses is correct." she laughed softly. "I maybe calling ya to fill in, from time to time." she went an got a hypospray. "This is triptacederin, an analgesic the dosage is low so it not interfere with your upcoming mission. It'll take the edge off the pain. But after your mission I would like to find the cause of and the triggers for your headaches."
"And lets not have me make this a medical demand. Besides I'd not mind having ya around." There was a playful look in her eyes and a lilt to her voice showing clearly she was teasing him to set him at ease.

Sam did as she instructed, although very slowly so as not to collapse from the sudden oncoming of this migraine. Sam shrugged innocently as the doctor confirmed what he figured, which wasn’t a good idea as it made him a little dizzy.
After receiving the hypo, he began to feel a little better, responding to the joke by the doctor “Well, I suppose now’s a good time to tell you that I only took Starfleet Combat Medicine Level II at the Academy; Only a trench first responder field medic I’m afraid.” He smiled, “However, I do believe you have a nice EMH that could always help you out; if needed of course.” He let out a little laugh as he was well aware, even through he didn’t wear the blue uniform, that most Starfleet medical staff weren’t to keen about the EMH’s.
Sam sat back up cautiously and wheeled around on the bio-bed allowing his legs to hang over the side, feeling better, he let out a relieved sigh. Looking back at Doctor MacAuley “I don’t suppose I could go two for two and say that it’s ‘stress related’, could I?” he said, generally knowing the answer before he finished.
Sam’s eyebrow rose at the mentioning of her not ‘minding having him around’; he could play cards with the best of them and generally guess an advisories move before they made it, but it was something with women that he could never completely figure out. His father always told him not to try, as doing so ‘could give you an aneurism’. Sam smiled at the memory, his father was full of ‘advice’; it had been a few years since he’d been home.
Sam nodded, “Aye Doctor, I’ll stop back in.” he figured she was just being playful, friendly more like it, and was trying not to look to deeply into it. It had to be her bedside manner, had to be… He shook his gently, he swore the sound of loose marbles would be heard back on Earth.

"Stess related is it now. Sure it tis. Ach now, the EMH a wretched bloody program. Only in the most dire situation will ya be seeing the likes of that program in here. Now, you on the other hand." her smile said it all she was joking to put him at ease. She already knew how he felt about doctors. Well, she patterned herself after a highland country doctor, with a sense of humor.
"Let me take your readings again." After running another scan she looked at him. "Your as fit as fiddle, still a wee bit tender but thats to be expected. Here now lets get you standing and see how you fair." She helped him up and then supported him for a moment removing her arm she let him stand on his own.
"How's that now?"

He laughed again “Me in Sickbay? In a blue uniform, I think you have as much chance of that happening as my adorning a red uniform; I took the gold stripe for a reason.” He smiled, the thought of working for one of the science arms almost gave him another headache; internally shuttering at the thought. Although he was sure that his instructors at the Academy would get quite the charge out of seeing him in blue.
With the Doctors assistance, he stood up, feeling much better. He no longer felt dizzy, both legs seemed to be supporting him just fine, and he had control of his balance; which he was thankful for. “Thanks Doc, I do feel much better, almost like my old self again; with the obvious exceptions of course.” as he pointed towards some of the alterations.
“Which does remind me,” he began, knowing that the alterations had to be extremely convincing “I had several scars, most are inconsequential, but I had one here;” he tapped just above his right breast “Could you make sure that it goes back like before? It’s a personal thing, I’m sure you understand.” The scar extended up his right chest and across his shoulder, a point blank Romulan disrupter blast; 4 years old. “Other then that, I think I’m ready to head off… That is as soon as you and the Captain are ready.”

(( OOC POST )) Notation!!!As of the end of this particular leg of the mission, Samuel Grant will be promoted to the rank of Commander, and he will take over as Executive Officer of the Terrasect. This will be handled in RP in-sim, along with a generalized promotion ceremony. I would like to congratulate Mr. Grant for his promotion to the rank of Commander, as well as his position shift to Executive Officer. James Harsting As you can see above, I clearly stated that "As of the end of this particular leg of the mission, Samuel Grant will be promoted to the rank of Commander, and he will take over as Executive Officer of the Terrasect. This will be handled in RP in-sim, along with a generalized promotion ceremony."This means that the promotion has not taken place yet in game. We will be handling other promotions at the same time. So please, do not jump the gun any worse than it already has been. Jim (( END OOC NOTE ))

Jim had been welcomed into the Sickbay when he had arrived, awaiting his turn for the alterations.
The species had soft ridges across their heads, much like a Klingon/Human would, however, the ridges wrapped around over the temples and down the face, blending into the cheek bones, which were also pronounced.
Short hair was customary for the men, and women wore their hair and various varieties.
Jim sat, waiting for the doctor to finish with Sam so he could be ready.

“Fair enough.” replied Sam. He laid back down on the bed, retrieved a PADD, and spent the next hour or so reviewing security information and running his hunches on the last 3 encounters with Ann.

He was thinking about torpedo modifications when Buford ineruped hi thoughts about dropping a line down to the Asteroid and pulling it to change directions. He sighed to himself, knowing that would not work, He had to give credit to the canine officer, he was persistant
He didn't look at him until he made his cat fish comment. He had a feeling that was aimed at him but shook that feeling off cause he couldn't prove it
"An asteroid of that size with only one line? All that will succeed in doing is the asteroid pulling us along with it with an over heated or burned out warp core. What should happen if we are unable to disconnect? Even with several lines, I am sure it would only be the same result. I'm not an engineer, Mr. Hound but I am only guessing at what will happen. As I have stated before, that is up to the captain to decide and he has already made a plan of action"
He didn't like the fact that he had to keep repeating himself but he did understand Buford's want to divert the asteroid or destroy it altogether

A tall NPC nurse walked into Grants room, she smiled at him. Remembering that MacAuley told everyone to smile often and when entering and leaving a patients area.
"Let me check your vitals and if they're good and your standing with no problem you can leave."
After taking his bio readings she asked him to stand which he did with no problems. She had him take a few steps unassisted. Which he did again with no problems.
"Very good Lt Cmder, your free to leave anytime you would like to."
