Captain's Personal Log, Stardate 65131.5
After recieving preliminary data on the Zeta Raphadon Expanse, we have found that a type M world that is populated by billions of humanoids is on the brink of natural disaster caused from an asteriod that is on a direct course for the planet.
I am somewhat at crossroads in my decision regarding this planet. I have the crew perpared to record all information regarding the planet once we enter orbit, so we can at least try to preserve a memory of these people. Somehow, it doesn't feel like enough.
Times like these make me question the Prime Directive and it's uses. It is okay for us to colonize a Class-M Planet, that may, unimpeded, develop sentient life in 500,000 years, but we cannot save a race who more than likely don't know of their impending doom, who might in 200 years develop Warp Drive, and become friends or even become part of the Federation.
I understand we are not Gods, and by that truth, should not change the outcome of a culture. However, who are we to ignore a people in need, even if they don't know they are in need? What does that say of us as a people?
However, I have sworn an oath to uphold the Prime Directive. And so I will do. I have even looked through previous precident, to see if I can find a loophole to save these people. However... I have come up with nothing.
End Log.

((Before we start this episode of the sim, I would like to notify everyone of a change to how we are going to operate the simulation.
It seems as if having separate forums for the different locations of the ship are a. slowing down simming, b. making it to where no one wishes to sim anywhere but the actual episode number, and c. has created a bit of confusion on what to post where.
So I am going to simplify this as much as I can.
Everything is going to be posted in this "Topic". Since this can definitely mean a lot of posts going under one topic, I'm going to ask that all people post their location where they ended on their post at the end. For example:
If people wish to create additional RP topics, feel free to do so or contact me to make one. All titles should have "S03E##" in front of the title so there will be a correlation to this sim when they're thrown in the same folder.
All RP under this particular sim should be labeled S03E02 (e.g. "S03E02: Jim's Birthday Party", or "S03E02: Galaxy Bar"), etc.
If the RP you are conducting is at the same time of the sim, feel free to place it in the sim. If not, please make it RP. If there is a time elapse in sim, and you wish to continue RPing, please move it then to a RP room as well. ^.^
In addition...
I understand IRL issues with time, however, please realize that I intend to try to speed this sim up a bit. All I ask is people try to at least check the forums daily or ever other day, so there aren't 3-4 day periods where everyone is waiting on one person to continue posting.
Thank you.
Jim))

He was standing at his station at Tacytical, his tail and whiskers twitching thinking of the plight of the people that were about to be destroyed. He wanted to see if we all could help those people, not just take pictures and watch them die. He shook his head, thinking such is the way of life, death is a natural part of it, even though there is nothing to be done to prevent it He glanced over at Buford, scattering his thoughts, and heard him report the ETA is one hour from the doomed planet. He then ganced back to his own sensors, tapping a key and then reported what he saw, his voice and tone neutral "The Asteroid will enter the planet's atmosphere in 5.5 hours.. Impact will occur 10 minutes later. All Tactical sytems, shields and weapons are running within normal parameters".

Location> Sickbay
Getting off the bio bed and onto his feet. "Thank you Doctor, I will do just that." He walks out of Sickbay and down the hallway checking it over before stepping into the Turbo Lift. "Bridge" he called out and when the Turbo Lift made it to the Bridge and opened the doors he stepped on to the Bridge. He walked close to the Tactical Console and glanced at Grabfoot. Not saying a word at first he looked at what was going on and then back at Grabfoot again. "One could all ways fire a phaser at the asteroid on this side." Pointing as he was talking. "The blast might hit the asteroid just right to make it set it on another course." He looked at the emotions that Grabfoot was showing. "But I am sure you had all ready thought about that and was thinking of another plan in case that one failed." He stepped back as he felt that he had stepped into something that was none of his business.

He was monitoring the course of the Asteroid as it continued to bear down on the helpless and unsuspecting inhabitants of Zeta Raphadon Beta 4 when the new security assistant came back to the bridge, approached his station and glanced at the current readings being displayed. He then looked up and stated "One could all ways fire a phaser at the asteroid on this side."
Grabfoot glanced to the point where the Ensign pointed to, noting that's where he already figured where the Asteroid should be hit to deflect it enough to miss the planet and save the inhabitants of the planet, then glanced back to him as he continued "The blast might hit the asteroid just right to make it set it on another course, but I am sure you had all ready thought about that and was thinking of another plan in case that one failed."
His face was expressionless the whole time the Ensign was speaking, his tail still. He was showing no emotion as far as he knew, at least on the outside, but on the inside, he was in turmoil. He wanted to help those people but because of the Prime Directive, we couldn't
He gave a slight nod to the Ensign, confirming what he said "Yes, I have thought of firing the phasers to that location to nudge it off course but with an Asteroid of that size, it will take a very prolonged burst, perhaps more then what we have available. I have also thought of firing a full spread or two of torpedos to defelect or destroy the Asteroid entirely but they are all for naught. The Captain has specified that we are not to interfere with the Asteroid's course, even though it will kill the planet that it will hit. He says it would be breaking the Prime Directive to interfere in the Planet's natural evolution, however short that evolution is"
He paused, waiting for the Ensign's reply

He nods and starts to quote it as if he was looking for a way to help them.
"As the right of each sentient species to live in accordance with its normal cultural evolution is considered sacred, no Star Fleet personnel may interfere with the healthy development of alien life and culture. Such interference includes the introduction of superior knowledge, strength, or technology to a world whose society is incapable of handling such advantages wisely. Star Fleet personnel may not violate this Prime Directive, even to save their lives and/or their ship unless they are acting to right an earlier violation or an accidental contamination of said culture. This directive takes precedence over any and all other considerations, and carries with it the highest moral obligation."
He thought for a moment. "What if the alien life and culture was not healthy? It only stated that one could not interfer with a healthy one. I am sure after the asteroid hits the planet they would not be healthy at all."

He merely listened as the Ensign started reciting part of the Prime Directive. In the last couple days, he had been subected to that same particular quote and was beginning to tire of hearing it but he didnt show any outward signs
He pondered a moment when the Ensign asked what if the people were already unhealthy then his tail spiraled when he commented that he was sure that "when the Asteroid hit, they would not be healthy at all"
"No, Ensign, they won't be. A third to half the population will be killed in the initial impact. The other half will most likely starve when all the other animals and plant life die out due to all the dust, debris and other contaminants the Asteroid kicks up from the impact"
He paused to see his reaction

He had listened and nodded in agreement. "Then what we need is a civilian to do it for us. A civilian is not Starfleet personal and I am sure there would be some in the lounge or in Sickbay."

He heard the Ensign's comment and a look of amusement crossed his facial features momentarily then went back to being neutral
"IF you can find a civilian on this ship with the ability to change the course of an Asteroid that size ad the willingness to do it, then I would start my search right away instead of making suggestions I have already thought of"
He thought of one that could and may do it but he knew she was not the kind to save a few billion people on a moment's whim. Perhaps destroy them, but not save them. He waited for the Ensign's response

As Buford sets at Helm he listens to Quick Foot and the Ensign talking and Shaking his head, when Quick Foot finishes
" Ensign how are you going to determine their not healthy?" Buford ask "I would like to help these People but theirs nothing we can do" he says
Buford laughs "Ensign perhaps who should go and ask all the Civilians if any Can snap their fingers and make that Asteroid change course or disappear" he says
"Better hurry Ensign times running out" Buford Says

Samek looked over towards the group speaking about the various ways to deflect the asteroid. And then about the Prime Directive. He spoke up towards the end, when Ensign Zabdiel said "What if the alien life and culture was not healthy? It only stated that one could not interfer with a healthy one. I am sure after the asteroid hits the planet they would not be healthy at all."
"As logic permits, the natural destruction of this planet would significantly change the balance of powers in this region of space when this dense region of populated planets all reach a warp-capable race. If we are to save these people, the existence of this planet may put in detriment the healthy evolution of the other civilizations in this region of space." Turning back to his console, he began bringing up various schematics and models of the Terrasect, figuring structural integrity field configurations for when using a tractor beam to attempt to move the mass. "However, it seems highly illogical for this civilization to be allowed to be destroyed when they are so far from evolving to the level to even be able to protect themselves when we shall already be in orbit, collecting information."

Her thoughts were becoming clearer…after not having the drug in her system or not as much. The illusions she had come and passed this time around she didn’t fight what she was seeing but spoke to it like a crazy. Ones it seemed to be over it looked as if she could see and do things normally. It just that she wasn’t sure what was normal… “ Cute eh? I’ve been called many things in my life, but cute isn’t really up on the list. Are you sure you’ll be okay with going ‘cold turkey’? I have faith in you, but just be careful alright? If you need to, let me know the moment you have any ‘set backs’ or the like… deal?”
She smiled and pondered that he was a typical guy. She ignored it and just smiled she kept looking at his eyes and yet over to her reflection. The blur of her face she just somewhat blankly looked at it. “Yeah! I’ll be okay. We all need to adapt and this is no different right. Thank you Sam but I be okay…if not I know where to go…” She smiled and hinted and looked at Grant. Still she kept looking at the reflection the face slightly became more clear. To everyone else what she was seeing was only her…to everyone she was just acting alien. “Nothing really exciting. We got our marching orders for our current mission and dueled about legal ramifications regarding our Prime Directive; you know, just another Starfleet ‘day at the office’.” She gave a nod and nodded she didn’t really care about the mundane BS that Starfleet does. She was even surprise that they even survive at all…it was just that she cared about Sam. Even if his Starfleet she was trying to show she cared. Even if she had to ask irrelevant questions to Sam of the stupid action of the Federation…
Tog came over and Samuel began to order as that went on she was till distracted. She didn’t hear Sam ask her if she was okay but she hear what was being ordered. “Do you have Pasta? Have it be mixed with vegetables and slices of steak and please have a side order of mushrooms. I’m gonna try to hand feed Mr. Sam a few.” She gave a smirk but she was serious…even if he saw it or not she kept a humorous appearance. Again at the reflection even if she was the only one to see. The face kept clearing up but still unclear…she felt almost better but she wasn’t sure because it was different from how she was acting and feeling. She should be confused but she wasn’t she had a mutt of everything before coming here and the changes in her of the present. She glanced over and saw a beautiful scene out side of the ship. She saw a large body of rock and it was just gasping to her. As she the ship seem to move closer she could see a world from her sights. She then tilted her head to the side…it seems that she was really looking over Sam. “Beautiful,” she uttered but at the same time she put two and two together. She thought to her self but spoke out loud, “Wammy!”
She caught her self again in the reflection and saw her face. Ones again she felt like her self even more but it felt like a mix of whatever she was feeling. She turned back at Sam, “So was this the day at the office you were talking about?” she points at the view port. As he turned to look she watched him…she looked at his head as he turned and the jaw line and down his neck. She smiled once more at him she tried not to be noticeable that she openly checking him out as if she cared. At this point she just wanted him to know…Again looking at the reflection she clearly saw her face and she gave a smirk. She thought to her self and told her in her head. “Hello Kate”. She Bites her lower lip.........In reality her seeing her self in reflections and any oddness are just her. Everyone sees her as Ann’Knox as Alien as she is.

Tog walked over and took Samuel's order then Sam ask Ann if she would like anything “Do you have Pasta? Have it be mixed with vegetables and slices of steak and please have a side order of mushrooms. I’m gonna try to hand feed Mr. Sam a few.” She gave a smirk
Tog smiled "One Stake medium Rare hold the mushrooms Baked potato sourer cream and chives and an earth soda, One Past and vegetable with slice stake and a side order of Mushrooms" Tog says he smiles turns and heads to get their orders
