She went to the Marine deck after dropping her son off at the nursery. She was feeling anxious about that, but knew the officers in charge and that Davy would be fine. When the TL doors opened with the familiar hiss she got off and noticed a few marines milling about. Alpha shift would not begin for another 20 mins. As they saluted her she returned their salutes. She entered her office sat down at her desk then took out the reports.
Thirty minutes later she got up went to the replicator and ordered coffee. She returned to her desk with the coffee in hand picked up the padd dropped off from Major Aniri's office. Going over the Padd she made some notations and then jotted a question she had.

Before she left her office she made a few changes in her appearance. If you alert you would know it was her, if not well. This was a favorite of her impromptu exercises and one that kept them on their toes. The first one was a failure. Now she would see if they remembered the lesson.
She left her office and went directly to the Marine deck. In the training area she stood in the back partly hidden by the shadows of the bulkhead, timing how long it would take.
After 145 seconds she heard Major on the deck. She smiled, then with a straight face she walked to the front. Looking stern, she crossed her arms. Watched as they all went to attention.
"Well ladies and gentleman, congratulations this is the worse I have seen in a long time. Last time it only took 80 seconds. You have nearly doubled that. And the enemy says thank you so very very much." She extends her hand as if shaking an imaginary person. "Honestly we can't thank you enough." She looks at them.
"Do you know why they say thank you. Well listen up to these sad facts. Lines 1, 2, 3, sit on the floor you all are injuried. Line 4, sit on the floor and hold your left elbow, you are all seriously injuried. Half of line 5, lay down, your dead. Look up at the screen ladies this is what happened as the enemy inflitered our line, took out sentries, and a few milling about. Then they set explosives, ran and bang your dead or hurt real bad."
"They report back these grim facts and they get a job well done. Trust me, those of you who would survive would hear a hell of lot from me and none of it pleasent. Is this clear."
"It is my job to keep your sorry asses alive and I will do that. But I can't if you want to die. Now it is strongly suggested you heed my advice and improve on this as fast as your little selfs can do it." She paced the line and then stopped waited a minute before continuing.
"Are thier any questions?" Her voice and stance let them know thier should not be one question.

He could tell she was not pleased by her look she then says "Well ladies and gentleman, congratulations this is the worse I have seen in a long time. Last time it only took 80 seconds. You have nearly doubled that. And the enemy says thank you so very very much." David watches her extend her hand as if shaking an imaginary person. "Honestly we can't thank you enough." She looks at them.
She then puts the teams into lines "Stay put" David tells his team, then has them take the last row, when she says half of Davids row lies down
Then the Major continues "It is my job to keep your sorry asses alive and I will do that. But I can't if you want to die. Now it is strongly suggested you heed my advice and improve on this as fast as your little selfs can do it." As She paced the line and then stopped waited a minute before continuing.

Noting the Klingon had nothing to say, she nodded, while pursing her lips slightly.
"Cpl Greathouse, since half you people are dead, you need to revive them. Full weighed back backs, then a nice little march in the holodeck, use Iverson training 132."
"Cpl M'toka, when they finish theirs you will run the same program."
"For those of you who are unfamiliar with that program, its a 10 mile march on an M class, jungle planet. You will encounter swamps, quick sand, the usual beasties gators, snakes, etc. Very humid, hot, sticky. Temps will range around 95 - 120 in the shade. Terrain is uneven so expect hills and such, oh and lets not forget the sudden thunderstorm.Enjoy yourselves, you worked hard to earn this one."
She turned and walked out.

She sat in her office reviewing the results of the exercise. Overall she was pleased with the results. M'kota's team didn't do as well. But that would improve.
She began to go over the latest information on the upcoming mission.

The last few days Doc Rutger has gone over just about everything he needed to go over for those Marines aboard. He see that 6 new marine combat medic have been assign to the ship. Reviewing their recorders he see that they needed to be up dated on combat triage classes. Taps his commbadge.
Major Iverson...this is Doc Rutger....I was looking throught the recorders of the new marines mdeics that just came aboard the ship. I see that they all need their combat triage course update. I was wonder if I could get them schedule sometime soon? Plus if you have anyone else you wish to attend the class....Doc Rutger over.

M'kota gave a smirk at the ideal program that was sat for her team. Something that would get her team into shape before a 'real' mission comes around. The terrain is just right to get her blood pumping. Although, it would be great if she could use this program for some of her own ideas. She could use it to battle some unknown enemy that lurches in the trees.
"Suit up now!", she said to her team. She wanted to make sure that they had their gear on by the time they got ready to use the holodeck.
M'kota saw Cpl Greathouse returned back from the holodeck, along with his team. She laughed as he walked back and told her to have fun. "I will make sure of that.", she said to him. She looked at her team and noticed that they were already ready to head to the holodeck. "Lets move it now! We got 10 miles to march in an excellent condition.", she said with a grin.

LCpl M'kota walked back onto the marine deck, along with her team. She looked toward them as they struggled to get inside. "Get clean up and rest. Make sure you all drink plent of water.", she said to them. With of how much they have sweated out, she knew that it was crusial for them to drink plent of water this very moment.

-He located the Commander's office, and entered. He took a seat, and had the PADD with his orders on it in his hand. Knowing that it could be a while, he waited patiently. "Hurry up and wait" was nothing new to him.-

Marc began to cross the Marine deck with a broad smile on his face. He couldn't help it. He felt silly, but the damn thing would not come off his face. He had met many women in his life, but Ivy was like a breath of fresh air. In his gallery of General's daughters and high ranking officers that had been his upbringing and later his life this was a woman who had simple wants and desires. She could understand his Marine tongue yet was definitely all woman. He had to hit the rack soon, but he didn't want to sleep right away. The mind was willing, but the heart was turning cartwheels. He turned the corner to the exit when he ran literally into a large Marine. He fell backward from the impact looking up at the large man.
"Uh, sorry about that." He stumbled out. "I guess I was a little distracted."
"Distracted you wuz," Another Marine not quite as big walked to the fore apparently the leader of the group. He looked down at Marc who was sitting up now with contempt. "Wut you doin down here 'birdman? Ain no planes down here, just killers."
"I was in conference with the boss all day." He said not wanting to give anymore details than that. "Now if you gentleman can excuse me I'll get back to my fighters."
"Siddown!" The man said pushing Marc back to the floor. "We groundpounders aren't stupid. You think we don't watch the comings and goings of our company commander? We know you been with her all day and dinner before that. Some of us have followed the Major from the 101st to here. She's a great leader and we don't want you messin that up, got it?"
"I don't know what the hell you are talking about." Marc started to get up again but the man hit him over the top of his head this time knocking him back down. "Okay, what do you want from me?"
"It's very simple: Leave the Major alone and leave little Davey alone." He demanded. "She dun need no fly by night pilot messin things up for her."
"And is this something her whole company has decided?" He asked and the man nodded his head as if the matter had been discussed thoroughly. "With all due respect to you and your fellow Infantryman, this is the Major's decision and not up for discussion."
"Oh I beg to differ," He smiled a toothy grin. "See it ain't just us pounders that spoke it was all us Marines. Your flyers agreed too. They won't follow if you keep this up. We want to protect San…. The Major from the likes of you. I was there at the 101st when she lost her husband and she dun need a repeat."
"Well then we have a problem," Marc grits his teeth with resolve. And stood up again only to be hammer fisted on the head again. He was getting tired of this. "I'm not going to live my life according to you and since she has no objections that's that." He lunged up, but this time went low and toppled the Marine. He tried to run but the other two were blocking his exit. He knew what was coming and swung hard at the first man, but he took the punch easily. The other two grabbed him and the third had gotten back to his feet. Without a word, he threw a punch into Marc's gut. He thought "Ivy, you are gonna owe me one big time.
He woke up several hours later. Though he hurt all over the damage overall wasn't that bad. They took great pains to leave no scars, well almost. He had a spectacular 'shiner' around his left eye. He got himself up and headed for sickbay. He couldn't meet the parents like this. He would deal with his own men in time, though he was sure the guy was bluffing. All and all it was still a great day even the fight was fun till he lost.
