When they walked out she turned to go the Nursery. Where she picked up Davey and holding him it you could see it was painful. "Hey little man ready to go home? We have company tonight."

He noticed her wince a little. I know you feel you owe me dinner and I'll hold you to it, but I'd like to cook for you and Davey tonight. I can do more than chicken soup. So if you'll allow me?

A man who cooks? Sure you can make dinner and I'll even let you hold Davey. She hands him to Marc, thanks for holding him. "I don't think I could carry him that far tonight."

He takes the boy in his arms. "Then its decided. Well young man, lets get you out of here so you and your mother can catch up on things. "

"Thank you Marc, usually hes not so heavy. Either he gained 20 pounds or Mommy is very sore and still weak."
They reach her quarters and she opens the lock then lets him in. "You can put him down Marc. He loves to crawl around."

He put him down and watched him scamper off. Then he turned to Sandy in the privacy of her quarters he steadied her putting his hand on her arm. "Alright, you can stop putting on a brave front there's no one around but me. Please sit down and we can talk while I cook."

She sat down and took out the medications. "Would you put these up high. I know he can't climb very well yet but I don't want to get into any bad habits. He normally doesnt take to strangers that well you have a way with children."

He takes the medication from her and puts them on the highest shelf then gives her a slight smile. He walks over to find a small area for cooking and began to look in the cabinets for what was available ingredients then made a mental list of things he would need and keyed the list in to the replicator. "I think it was more that he was happy to see you. I know children even his age can sense dangers. So where is the father, if I may ask?"

"His dad died. We were married and both of us were in the Marines. He was in intelligence, and well we know I'm not. He was sent to infiltrate a group suspected of treason. We didn't know his exact location."
"The 101st was sent in to control a developing sit on a world that was being torn apart from internal struggle. While there, we heard word that Davids team was there. To make it short. David was dying, he was beaten badly and tortured."
"I got to the location, got to David and held him as he took his last breath. We both knew the ring leader, his name was Frank, he sings soprano now. If you get my meaning. He said David was a traitor and well I lost it. Anyways,"
"A few weeks later SF cleared me of any wrong doing and excessive force. I buried David, and while clearing out our condo I found a document. It was from a sperm back, seems David made a donation to be given to his brother who was sterile. I knew this was my only chance to have Davids child and I took it. And Davey is here."
"My brother in law, was disappointed but understood."

As she spoke he had begun to cook the pasta, and had a seperate pot gong for sauce. He was stirring the sauce as she talked. "I'm sorry for your loss, but that at least tells me something. Sandy, I'm going to lay my cards on the table so to speak. From the indication of your story, you are a woman who loves hard. Love is not a thing of half measures for you. Knowing this, I do feel the beginning of something here, but I can't live up to a legend nor would I try so if I'm misreading you I need to know."

"What do you mean by legend? And why would anyone even try to, it would be useless."

I just want to know if you are ready for someone new in your life that isn't your son?

She smiled at him. "My son is the center of my universe. As any child is to his mother. But even mothers need more then their children. I have grieved for David, and there will never be another David, I know that. And I don't want nor expect that. But it's also time I moved past memories and stepped back into the real world."
"But you said I love hard, and thats true. I also don't fall in love in a heartbeat, it takes time. But the most important thing to me. Is that you can accept Davey, and should we work out accept him as your own."

I never expected to you to fall helplessly into my arms nor would I want it. I just want a chance to get to know you better and possibly get closer to you and Davey. I like your son. He has your smile thats for sure when you deem to use it. As for the rest, I would have to make that call should things progress that far. Right now I just want to get to know you as Ivey and now Major Iverson. He began to set places on the table then went back to the burners and took one more taste of the sauce. He layed a basket of bread on the table along with a Ice tea. I hope you're hungry.

She smiled, "Sounds about right to me. And yes I'm hungry. Would you mind getting Davey, he loves pasta and hes a riot when he eats it. Can never be sure if he ate, or his head and face along with the floor ate well." She laughed and held her chest.
