I could always tell you the story of my call sign. He chuckled a little. but you have to promise to tell no one else. Its something pilots keep to themselves.

Back in my first year piloting for the corp, I had been land locked. I was flying conventional aircraft and hating it. He takes her hand and continues to walk with her. I knew I was the best they had but I felt my superiors were making an attempt at humbling me. Anyway. because I was bored I played the ladies man back then and met a girl at one of our exhibitions . She seemed nice enough, but was not big on giving me a lot of information about herself. The only thing I knew is that she was on leave from academy waiting to be assigned. It finally came time to seal the deal so to speak. She told me her out of town for the weekend and we'd have privacy. Things started to get 'hot and heavy' so to speak when the parents got home early. It turned out her father was the base commandant. She was always the rebel joining fleet over the corps. She was an adult so they couldn't do much to me formally except put me on report for breaking curfew.
The my direct CO called me to his office and told me that I'd made the biggest mistake of my life and asked me one question: When I looked back on my career how would I remember this incident. I told him that when I was General I'd look back and think of it as a small hiccup. It broke his command demeanor and he doubled over laughing.
Word got out and from then on I was 'Hiccup'. The things you do when you're young.

"Interesting way to get a call sign. Your lucky he was in a good mood. I had a complaint about one of my boys. Hate that. I mean come on, these girls know what their doing and then have daddy call foul." she shook her head.

Yeah, thats true but you know that when the time comes you'll feel that protective of Davey, though he may insist on being called 'David' by then.

"I loved your story and I almost can see that happening. Bet you had one of those forced serious looks when you wanted to burst out laughing." she smiles.
As they walked she leaned against him and laughed, "I'm sure he will insist on being called David. But Davey is a boy. Thank goodness, gonna be hard enough raising him with out a dad, and girls are a little harder in one way. Unless someone decides they don't mind a ready made family."

Anyone who joins the Marines understands the concept of a ready made family. When you join the corps, you join for life and have a million brothers in the universe that will be there for you 'anytime, anywhere'. So I don't think Davey will be lacking in male figures. Saying that, any man who didn't consider a life with you would be a fool.
He walked with her smelling her hair and feeling her against him wondering if it could get any better. This was a far cry from the pain of the last mission and you would hardly know that she has been through such a harrowing experience. It was just another thing that amazed Marc about this woman.

"We Marines are a strange lot, united in a brotherhood thats hard to explain. But we wouldn't have it any other way."
"Thank you for the complaint. Its not often that I hear them. But," said playfully "I hear some of the names they call me. But hey thats half the fun making up nicks for the MCO."

Yeah, you have a good group of men, but right now I'm not talking to the MCO, I'm talking to Ivy and the more I know of her the more I find I like. He notices that the music had died down and they had walk to the edge of the Park. If someone has reminded you how great you are then its long over due. Are you enjoying yourself?

She smiled at him, "Very much so. To be at one of my fav programs, an attractive man at my side. What more could you ask for?"
She looked into his eyes and smiled.

He looked into her eyes and could not resist the urge to kiss her. Her lips felt soft with just a hint of the roughness of the cold she'd weathered. His hands held her body feeling the strength within in slight frame. When their lips parted he smiled. Sorry, you are an addictive drug.

He checks his chrono. We better start heading back or we'll miss that great dinner you've been bragging about . He smiled and kisses her softly on the cheek. If we don't we wont get there.
