She nodded, "Thank you for answering those very personal questions. I know how very uncomfortable they can be, which is why I phase it as I do. To make it short, simple, and to the point."
"Now for your stress test, if you would please go to that machine. And when your ready begin to run."

Sam was sitting in his office when he received the notice from the Doctor, he laughed to himself as he closed the comlink. He could well understand where the Doctor was coming from and was well aware of the crew physical requirement, but there were exceptions to every rule and Sam was one of the few members of this club; albeit the cost was high.
Sam held no ill-will or anger at the Doctor, she couldn’t know, but she would when the time was right. Sam brought up a letter that he had been given by the head of Starfleet Medical, which had also been signed by the head of the Starfleet Engineering Core and Starfleet Security Services.
He sent a short notice to the Doctor, which read;
Dear Doctor MacAuley,
In response to your quarry for the required physical at this time I must again respectfully decline. I am well aware of Starfleet regulations regarding such matters and do take them very seriously, but as you are currently not aware I’m some what of a ‘special case’. I have attached a signed statement from Starfleet Command which I have been ordered to use in instances such as these, kinda like a ‘get out of jail free card’. I will come and see you when more time is available, so please don’t take it personally.
Resepectfully Submitted,
Lt. Commander Samuel J. Grant Chief of Security, USS Terrasect
To Whom it may concern:
In response to the request from the Directors of Starfleet Medical and the Corps of Engineers, and at the behest of Starfleet Security Services, it is hereby decreed that the medical record of Chief of Security Lieutenant (rank at time of notice) Samuel J. Grant‘s, formally of the USS Bull Run, Medical Record and information contained within be Classified Priority Alpha 1 by order of Starfleet Command.
The medical information is only authorized to be viewed by the acting Captain of the Ship or Starbase he is and/or may be assigned to and that same assignment's Chief Medical Officer. This information is not kept on an accessible location for security reasons and may be ‘released’ by stated officer when time is appropriate and when there is a ‘need to know’.
This order countermands all other standing Medical Starfleet Orders. Lt. Grant will be medically reviewed when at appropriate locations by specific personnel outside of standard crew, with the exception of the acting Chief Medical Officer once deemed appropriate.
This is no way reflecting that the Medical Staff aboard stated Starship or Starbase were/are incapable of rendering treatment, but it has been decided that it should be rendered classified for everyone’s standard safety.
Signed, Admiral Matthew Rickertsy Chief of Staff Starfleet Command

As she read the com from Grant, she was needless to say ticked off. For the first time since leaving the highlands she spoke in a fast, annoyed voice in Scottish Gaelic. Very few of her words were well nice. Then she thought to herself, So be it Grant. Lets us hope I have what is needed if and when the time comes you need such care, or you decide to grace me with your holiness. She could not abide such "get out of jail cards", "special case", "a need to know".
The history of her people was riddled with such, "get out of jail cards", "special case", "a need to know", the Brits, the Vikings, the Romans. And always in the end her people prevailed. On her report for Grant, she attached this com, along with a statement that she in all honestly could not swear as to his fitness. At least, now she as many SF officers would say, "Covered her ass'.
She got up, leaving sickbay going directly to the gym. For the next 20 mins she worked off her anger. Then returned to her quarters.

She glanced over to the stress machine that Dr MacAuley indicated and then rose to her feet and walked over, turning her head to speak to the doctor as she walked over
"When it comes to medical doctors, that is the way I like it short and simple, How fast and how long do you wish me to run?"
As she stepped up onto the machine, she heard a message came into the doctor in her inner office and then watched as she went in and answered it. Whatever it was, it must not have been good. She saw that is spiked the doctor's fur and lashed her tail. She heard the doctor muttering in her native language
Her own tail spiraled into a small helix as she thought the situation was quite humorous. She thought to herself ~ now she knows how I feel ~
She then watched as the doctor stormed out of her office and out of sickbay entirely, which set her whiskers to twitching in annoyance at having been forgotten. She pondered the thought of leaving right then but then decided to wait a few minutes to see if the doctor would remember her

She returned to sickbay, and put on her med coat. She smiled as she remembered her niece saying her doctor coat.
"Fong Tang, get the tricorder that was used on Grant. Place it on my desk. Oh, no." She turned and walked briskly to where Tailkinker was. Reminding herself as she walked in to refer to her as "Lt Tail Kinker To~Eeiauo", she would not slight her again.
"Lt Tail Kinker To~Eeiauo, sorry for the delay. If you will begin the stress test, slowly build up to your max speed. Then maintain it for 5 mins."

Her head lifted as the doctor strode back and apologized for "the delay". She sniffed the air slightly and her anger smell was gone.
"It is alright, Doctor. I have noticed humans when they get their tails pulled they run off to vent their anger before they cuff the person that pulled their tail. This must affect their memory as well"
Her tail spiraled into an even tighter helix before she started to run. She increased her speed to 40 mph and stayed there for a couple minutes. she then glanced at the doctor and asked "you did say top speed, did you not?"
Tail Kinker knew she did but was testing the doctor

Looking up from the data stream and to the Feline she smiled. "Yes I did."

She noded "As you wish"
She put on a boost of speed and watched the numbers rise until it showed that she was running at 60 Mph and held that for a couple more minutes. She then watches as her heart rate began to slowly climb, but it was well within normal range
"How is this?" she asks

"Excellent. Would you please reverse the process."

Her whiskers perked forward then back in a sivaoan nod before putting on another burst of speed that topped out at 64 mph
She then looked at the doctor as she started to breathe heavily from the exertion
"By reversing... you mean.... to stop"

"No, I meant to begin to slow down gradually to stop."
She continued to watch the readings.

"Oh... I... see...."
As the doctor requested, she began to reverse the proces, slowing her speed and watching the numbers fall: 40....30....20....10 and then 0
She stopped and then commented "Nice bit of.... exercise.... I feel... like I just chased...... a slashback"
Her tail remained in it's helix the whole time

She smiled. "I assume a slash back is an animal of prey. You have done very well. One final question. What are the temperature ranges for your race?"
"This is needed so if your on an away mission you will have the proper things needed to ensure your safty."

Tailkinker heard the doctor's assumption that a slashback is an animal that is "prey"-ed on. Her whiskers quiver in thought then answers
"A slashback is what we prey on and they are also hunters. They are quite viscious, especially when they travel in pairs. They closely resemble animals from your history called the saber tooth tiger.
As for temperature ranges, I would be comfortable in what you would call cool or cold temperatures as we have fur to keep up warm"
What she didn't say is that fur can prevent some injury as to opposed to cuts and piercings of the skin
"If the temerature started to climb over 70 degrees, it would start to become uncomfortable and 80 would be too hot"

She nodded and made the notations for her records and for the reports.
"Thank you, Lt Tail Kinker To~Eeiauo. Your fit for duty, which we both already knew. But I now have the important baseline readings for this year. Also thank you for informing me on your race. As it was said many times to me growing up, "Only a fool chooses to stop learning and a wise man knows that for all things he knows there are hundreds of things he doesn't know."
"You may leave when your ready." She busied herself with the usual tidy up of the room and gathering her information. Normally Fong Tang would do that, but considering her fear of the Feline she did it.
