“My mistake Lt.” replied Sam, nodding his head in apology. When she mentioned Lt. Grabfoot being stationed aboard the Terrasect, Sam looked at the Captain and then back at Lt. Tail “No Lt., not that I’m aware of.” He replied, slightly caught off guard by the question “But I am glad that he’s well. Last I saw him he was laying on a sickbay bed with heavy injuries resulting from combat with an unknown alien species; he fought well.” Sam sighed a bit as he remembered ‘Ann’, the being that they were fighting to protect and the ‘odd off’ relationship that they had shared. Ever holding his composure, Sam waited.

Her whiskers pitched forward then tilted back as she was informed that GrabFoot was no longer aboard and her ears drooped slightly hearing that he was injured heavily in battle with an unknown race
"That is the reason I smell his scent. The smell of battle and injuries always lingers. I am also pleased to hear e fought well. I am surprised with all the technology around, it not dull his sensors or his fighting spirit, even on Eeiauo. I am sure he kicked the aliens tail right back where it came from"
Her tail then spiraled into a tighter helix with humor then paused to wait for a response from either Grant or Harsting

He nodded. "You'll be taking his position. I must say you must have a good sense of smell if you still can detect his scent. That was, after all, over six months ago, and this ship has been refit and cleaned from top to bottom." He smirked with a bit of humor.
"You are not officially due on the duty roster until tomorrow at 0800. However, if you wish, you can touch up on our Tactical System here aboard the Terrasect, or review the upgrades." He paused for a moment. "Some of our phaser systems have in fact been refitted, with new housings for the discharge arrays. It should help cooldown for the phaser systems by a considerable margin."
Jim smiled. "It is a pleasure to have you aboard, Lieutenant."

Samek had been aboard the Terrasect for nearly a month now, overseeing the final stages to the refit that had taken almost the entirety of six months. He had just the previous week finished a space walk on the hull to finish the LCARS system uplink from the dorsal phaser array's upgraded cooling system sensors.
He currently sat in his office, going over duty reports from the various starbase teams that were due to leave the following day. His desk was flawless, every PADD meticulously placed, organized to a point that if a human would walk in, they would think he was obsessive-compulsive. And they would be right, if that human disorder did not involve emotion of any sort. Because he was a Vulcan. The man stood 1.923 meters tall (approximate 6'3"), with the typical dark hair and even complexion of most Vulcans.
The rest of his office was also immaculate, his certifications and commendations on the wall in a neat and orderly system that apparently listed each in chronological order.
On the wall to his left was a large 1.5 meter by 1 meter display showing the Master System Display of the Terrasect, which currently had the electro-plasma system flow overlayed with power usage and shortages shown as shades of blue to yellow to red.
To the right was the window that looked out into engineering as well as the door that lead from his office to the center control center that was very reminiscent of the USS Enterprise D's Engineering Layout.
The wall facing away showed a painting of the Terrasect that the Captain had made and placed down here nearly two years prior.
Samek stood, having finished sorting through the nearly 35 PADDs that detailed all of this last stretch of work. He moved directly to a stack that had been on the upper left hand corner of his desk, sorted through without looking for their contents, and pulled out the third, fourth and fifth PADD in the stack. Placing the other two of the stack back on the desk, and proceeded to the door, and exited. The lights automatically turned off as soon as the door shut again, and he proceeded towards his next right to the Turbolift. He entered the turbolift and spoke in a deep, precise voice.
"Main Bridge."
He crossed his hands, one holding the three PADDs in front of him. The turbolift then shifted directions, moving towards the fore of the vessel, before stopping again momentarily and heading back upward. Once the Turbolift arrived at Deck 7, it stopped again, and a young ensign, apparently straight out of the academy who was wearing a gold uniform, entered, seeming slightly nervous as soon as he saw Samek in the Turbolift. The young man turned towards the front of the turbolift, and stood there, not saying a word. The turbolift sat still, awaiting a command.
Samek glanced at the ensign, curious as to why this boy was not stating a command. The logic, or rather lack-of-logic behind forgetting where you were going was rather weighing on his mind. He wondering if he was an imposing presence on this youth, as illogical as it sounded. He then asked in a very even, though seemingly short, tone.
"Is the main bridge your destination as well, Ensign?" The resonate baritone of his voice seemed to startle the young man, as he seemed to jump slightly.
"No... uh... sir. I'm sorry. 'Deck 3, Promenade.'"
The turbolift, content with the order, started it's upwards climb, stopping once it reached Deck 3. The young man quickly shuffled off of the turbolift as the door opened. Samek watched as a Ferengi seemed to be out front of the "Galaxy Bar", the entrences to the bar being on either side of the turbolift, he knew. Tog, he knew the Ferengi to be, was passing out cheap mementos, no doubtedly replicated from the Terrasect's Replication Bank, trying to get people to enter or come later to the bar.
The doors closed again and the turbolift began it's ascent until it opened up on the forward half of the Terrasect's bridge, on the Starboard Side. He stepped out, and started directly towards the three figures standing around the Captain's chair. Two of the figures were blocking the third, which Logic dictated was more than likely the Captain. The one he knew from passing was Security Chief Samuel Grant, and the third he was unfamiliar with, though he logically placed her as either the Helm or Tactical Officer due to the color of her uniform. He approached, standing then at attention, awaiting his turn to speak to the captain.

She turned back to Capt Harsting as he started to speak, giving a human nod as he stated that it's been 6 months since Grabfoot has been aboard and since then the ship has been cleaned top to bottom and been refitted
Then he went on to say that she wasn't officially on the roster until 0800 hours but if she wanted to she can review and "touch up" the Tactical systems if she felt they were needed. As she was about to respond to that, an ear twitched and tilted toward the top half of the bridge where a TL door opened. Glancing over, she would see another human... no, she corrected herself, A vulcan as she caught a brief glimpse of his pointy Spock-like ears. She turned back to Harsting as the new comer approached, She'd comment
"Thank you, Captain. It is my pleasure to be here to serve on one of the newest ships in the fleet. I'll go ahead and look over what modifications have been done on the Tactical systems and will most likely need to modify the response time on the targeting sensors. They always make them too slow"
She then stepped back to let the newcomer report in or talk to the captain and then made her way towards the Tactical console

Samek overheard what the Lieutenant mentioned, and spoke up. "Actually, Lieutenant. The Targetting Sensors by default currently operate at a speed roughly 6 times faster than those on the Sovereign Class." He pulled one of the PADDs from his stack and offered it to her.
"This details all of the upgrades to tactical systems that will be online as of 0500 tomorrow as the Starbase Engineers finish and depart at 0700."

She paused as the newcomer had started to speak to her.
"Actually, Lieutenant. The Targetting Sensors by default currently operate at a speed roughly 6 times faster than those on the Sovereign Class."
She gave a nod to the Lt, accepting the second PADD that was handed to her that held the upgrades for the Tactical systems
She responded back "Thank you for the new bit of news . It is about time that someone thought up a faster response time then 0.73 seconds"
Her tail spiraled into another helix

Sam waived his hand in a friendly gesture pointing towards the tactical station, continuing with the friendly atmosphere “Tactical is over there Lt., please let me know if you need anything.”
Looking over to the newly arrived Lt. Samek “Sounds like you must have been cracking that whip very hard, Starbase Engineers aren’t always the quickest bunch of people to get motivated. Looks like we made good time.” Sam had to continually remind himself of the different styles of Engineer’s he’s dealt with over this last few tours, a Romulan and two similar (yet different in their own right) humans, and now a Vulcan.
“I’m just glad your in charge down there and not me…” remembering his poor grades in such fields “Actually I’m sure there a lot of people that are happy.” Sam said with a smile and a little laugh.

Saia exited her quarters, having stopped only long enough to drop off her few personal belongings. There was little she needed. This ship was very well equipped. The surreptitious stares and whispers didn't bother her, in fact, Saia found some of them rather interesting to look at as well, though her own curiosity, seemed to have the effect of unnerving them. Her laughter clicked in the corridor.
The Huraen didn't wear a standard uniform, something about maintaining the dignity of Starfleet. She smiled remembering how one admiral in particular had been so adamant that it work until his fellows pulled him aside and convinced him to "give it up". Instead of the usual colors to indicate departmental association, Saia wore corresponding insignia, inlaid into her chitin. Pips in their usual place at the base of the thorax. Science insignia on the ride side of her upper abdomen, communicator on the left.
She was very much looking forward to this assignment. Learning and teaching were her passions. The Federation like her own peoples were many races who came together to form one. This ship in particular boasted a varied and diverse crew.
Arriving at the bridge, she smiled reassuringly at another passing crewmember. This ship was much larger than the first she had served on and she did not have to duck through any of the doors as she'd been accustomed to previously.
The doors opened and she nodded appreciatively. Beautifully designed. Her deep green eyes focused on the group of officers at the center. The Captain, the Executive Officer, judging by the rank; A Vulcan engineer, he would be very pleasant to talk to, and a Sivaoan! Her antennae swayed a little in her excitement. This would be her first experience with many races she had only just read about.
She walked forward, orders in hand and saluted. She had her own way of doing this. Though one arm would be sufficient by Federation standards, she choose to use two of the four sets spaced along her body, one for the Captain and one for the XO.
"Science Officer, Lieutenant Saia reporting sirs."

He smirked ever so slightly at that, glancing at Sam, who then spoke to Samek. "Lieutenant Samek, on his either second or third trip through the academy, trained under me extensively in the art of engineering." He smirked, awaiting the typical reaction he would usually get from the much older man, whom he had known for over 32 years. Jim then glanced over at Saia as he watched her walk onto the bridge. He had never met her in person, however, had seen her through subspace communications multiple times in the last month or so. He watched as she approached and saluted. "Science Officer, Lieutenant Saia reporting sirs."Jim then returned the salute, and spoke. "At ease, Lieutenant. I would assume that you have found and made yourself at home?"

She relaxed her stance and smiled.
"If you mean my quarters Sir, I'm much more "at home" here on the bridge working and in the company of others."
Her eyes had indeed drifted to the station she believed was Science, anxious to begin looking over files and finding out exactly what the capabilities of this ship were.

Samek simply glanced over to Jim, and if one wouldn't know better, an almost annoyed look manifested itself. Still, none the less, he offered a PADD to Samuel, and another to Jim, glancing then momentarily at Saia, awaiting her finished greeting.
Afterwards, he did speak up. "Captain Harsting, this is the engineering readiness report. The Terrasect's upgrades are either complete or shall be before 0600 tomorrow. All tactical upgrades shall be finished by 0500, and all replicators will be online before 0230 hours. All bridge stations will be fully uplinked to upgraded systems at precisely 0700 when all upgrades are 100% Complete and all programming and interface coding is completed." He stopped, awaiting the response of the captain, choosing to ignore the earlier comment that Jim had made. He wasn't insulted in the least--- the story had just been told too many times.

Jim nodded. "I see you are already eyeing the Science Station. It should be online with an uplink with the Starfleet Database and Starbase 234. If you would like, feel free to get acclimated to your station."
Jim watched her start towards the station, and then looked at Samek, who handed both himself and Sam a PADD. Jim immediately started looking through the report. "Very good. Schedule simulations and final diagnostics on all systems for 0700 then, and be ready for departure by 1100 hours." He sat the PADD down, and looked then to Samek. "It is good to have you aboard, old friend."
He glanced over at Sam. "Sometime while down at Togs, we'll have to get Samek here to tell you why he's still only a Lieutenant after 45 years of Starfleet Service." He knew it to be an interesting story, one that Samek never was overly reluctant to tell, especially to Jim and those he trusted.

He enters the bridge ans Salutes the Captain then the rest in order, makes his way to helm while looks at the Huraen "interesting species" he thinks as he looks at helm and studies to to get the feel of it

She was already heading in the general direction of where the tactical station when Grant pointed out where it was saying the Tactical station was "that way". She glanced back in his direction, nodding a silent thnk you before reaching her station and looking at the PADDs she was given, beginning to study the latest upgrades to the Tactical Systems. She thought of another modification to some quantum torpedos that her father had made before returning home for good to Sivao. When her and her brother were growing up, her father had made notes on his ideas, hoping his children would grow up and follow in his footsteps. When her brother, Fetch Storm To~Vensre had sucessfully completed his third Walk, he announced he wanted to go to the stars and walk their path. As she was a couple years younger then Fetch Storm, she was worried that after he failed his second Walk, he would take "the other path" to adulthood but their mother had spoken to him and he told her that he promised his intended mate, whom died during his second Walk, her first, that he would Walk a third time when he was ready and could find people that would accept to go with him on his 3rd Walk.
She was one that went with him on his third Walk when she decided to it was time for her to go. Fetch Storm was reluctant to let her go as he thought she was too young.. Fetch Storm revealed to her that he wouldnt know what to do if anything should happen to her but she convinced him that nothing would happen to her and they both would make it and get their names. True to her word, they both made it and nothing had happened, They all had made it with relatively minor injuries. She also revealed that she too wished to walk the stars but Fetch Storm's reasons were different from her own.
The sound of the TL doors swishing open brought her out of her thoughts and memories. She glanced over to see who came on to the bridge this time and she did a double take, her eyes widening and her ears flicking back in surprise. She'd never seen someone with 8 arms before. She watches as the 8 armed female stepped up to the Captain and Grant, saluting them both and stated she is the new Science Officer reporting in
