Duncan looked squarely into his eyes as Mr. Grab Foot Of-Two Dawns stood up and pounded his fist on the table. He saw that Mr. Grab Foot Of-Two Dawns have a lot of ways to go. Duncan kept himself in check.
"Yes, I am by rank and also with experience. If I was in your place, I would swallow my pride and follow orders. Lt Grab Foot Of-Two Dawns, you have a long way to go before you are mature enough to be at my post. With experience, I would have never resort to your behavior and you have no place being on the bridge acting the manner you are in now.", Duncan calmly, but firmly replied to him.
Duncan did not need to show his temper to prove a point, but showed an example of how an officer should act would do just fine. He didn't even need to act like a child in order to prove something.
"You need to learn of how to use a tone to a superior officer like everyone else here had before in the past. That is the one good way to become a fine officer.", Duncan continued to say and then waited for his response.

Sam and Jim continued to talk about general ship matters, nothing more of critical importance. As Lt. Grabfoot entered, Sam nodded towards him and continued his conversation, finishing up the generalities. When Major Kinsely walked in, Sam did the same, nodding to him, acknowledging their presence; as he did with the preceding officers as well.
While in mid-sentence, the Major and Lt. Grabfoot began a duel that stunned him. He knew from experience that Grabfoot had a temper, which often got him into trouble; sometimes justified other times unacceptable (like this time). Being Chief of Security and a Senior Officer aboard the Terrasect; Sam thought to stand and put down the Lt. and try and retake control of the situation. But as his legs began to stand, his waist felt attached to his seat, his strength not enough to get him to his feet. Initially trying to fight it, he placed his drink on the table along with his hands, but still no use.
His mind finally caught up with the events, realizing what it was, he knew that there was no reason for him to immediately step in; Major Kinsely didn’t need any help.
Sam watched as the two exchanged words; in awe that Lt. Grabfoot would act that way towards a superior officer, in front of the Senior Staff no less.
Sam’s tolerance of the exchange began to evaporate as it continued, he was completely appalled by the outbursts. Sam’s hand began to clinch the end of the table, now in frustration instead of a helping hand. He glanced back at Captain Harsting, almost searching for a queue, but with all his inner control (which is saying a lot) Sam stayed sitting… for at least a little longer.

His tail continued to snap around but not as fiercly as before, as he heard Major Kinsely's response. He glances at Grant, seeing his stunned expression then began sensing that Grant's tolerance for his and Kinsely's outbursts were thinning and his frustration rising
He turned back to Kinsely, making his own response, trying to calm down, and growling a little bit on his "you have a long way to go before you are mature enough to be at my post"
"If you were in my place, Major, you would know that it is hard for a Sivaoan to swallow his or her pride, especially when they know when they are right or wrong. Either way, when the point is made, the discussion is usually over and we move on. Not dwell on it and have it drag on
As for being mature enough to be at the position you are, that is a matter of opinion as is what the definition of what a "fine officer" should be. I, at least, know when to speak my mind when I think it is needed, not meekly or blindly follow orders whenever they are given. My actions and reactions fit the situation, in my opinion, whether you deem them "mature" or not
You say you would not behave in the manner as I have? you did not grow up where I did either. Granted, we have our technology to ease life but growing up is still harsh and a fight for survival, where quick actions and reactions will determine on whether you live or die. So, please, do not act like you're all better then I am. In my opinion we are no different from each other, but only in rank. Now, if you dont mind, Ssssssir, I would like to cease this petty bickering, as you may call it and focus on how to deal with this Assteroid"
He hissed out the "sir" not because he was trying to be disrespectful, but he had reverted back to his native tongue for a moment. He then wrapped his tail back around his waist and sat back down. He then turned his attention to Grant and Harsting, to hear their views on the Asteroid

Buford can smell the anger in Grab Foot as well as Kinsely but Kinsely is control grant and others were stunned, Buford then smelled Grab Foot Clam some, and when Grab Foot sat back down
Buford looks at the Captain "Sir we could use the Tractor Beam to change its course I reckon the Mass is to heavy for that" he says
"We could use torpedoes but that most likely take all or most of them to move it" he says
"we could fire a graviton beam through the deflector dish causing a resonant graviton beam and open a portal to to Fluidic space letting the object enter it and the close the portal Sir, Engineer would have to reroute that through the Nav systems" he reports and waits

He turned to as he heard Buford's suggestions to Captain Harsting, then he added his own comments
"I think it would depend on hiw much power we could transfer to the Tractor beam(s), course, I believe you maybe right, it maybe too big for the tractor beam
I had also thought about using torpeds to deflect it's path. If we can deflect it, by my estimations, about 5 degrees degrees, it may miss the planet entirely. It would most likely take a full spread, maybe two, of the Tri-quantum torpedos to nudge it where we want it to go"
When Buford mentioned firing a graviton beam through the main deflector dish to open a portal to Fluidic space, he looked a bit confused. He'd heard mention of Fluidic Space a few times but he didn't study up on the matter

Jim stood up when the bickering occurred. "That will be enough, both of you." He was rather calm and collected about it. "Everyone have a seat, we'll discuss this astroid situation civilly and in an organized manner." He pressed a button next to his seat. "All senior officers not already in the Observation Lounge, please make your way here for the mission briefing."
((OOC:
A few things: No more of this arguing BS. When people don't post for 5 days, or even longer, there does get to be some confusion into how things are posted.
Furthermore, I do encourage all of you to read the posts carefully, especially ones I have posted. If you'll note, the one where Jim entered the Observation Lounge was a TIME ELAPSE action. Which means, some time passed.
When things are posted out of order, INCORPORATE them into your posts. I understand not everyone can post everyday. I don't want this argument thing to happen again, or else I'll have to set an order for people to post in, which I don't want to do otherwise we'll never get to the Expanse.
I would also like you all to also read the information that I provided to get an idea of what is going on, and so you have some information about the areas this mission entails.
Jim ))

By this time, his attention was towards the real matter at hand and not on the agruement. Practically for the fact that GrabFoot did indeed step out of line and by doing so, Duncan ignored GrabFoot's last statement. Obviously, GrabFoot did not know him either or else he would have obeyed orders like he was suppose to do.
He was even about to say something to Buford when Captain Harsting stood up. Duncan looked towards Cpt Harsting and gave a nod. "Yes, sir.", he replied to him. He didn't even stood up when he was talking to GrabFoot and had even talk to GrabFoot in a calm, but firm manner. He was suprised of what direction Captain Harsting took, but kept quite about it for the moment. He looked back towards Buford as he started his suggestions of how to deal with the problem.
"We could do the graviton beam to direct the asteroid out of harms way.", he said to Buford. "Buford, do you any ideas where we could direct it towards?", he asked everyone else that was there.
His mind was totally now on the main problem at hand and had no other concerns at the moment. He picked up his PADD to make several notations that would go into a record for himself to work on later.

Samek, finishing his findings of various contingencies, downloaded the information to a PADD and quickly moved into the Observation Lounge, taking a seat. He did speak up after he sat. "My apologies for being tardy, I was researching various engineering aspects of this mission, and how our systems might be affected if we attempt to move the object currently enroute to Zeta Raphadon Beta Four."

She entered late and smiles at those present who noticed her coming in. She took a seat quietly and took out her padd.

Sam was surprised when Jim stood, but the surprise was only milliseconds long. He knew from serving with the Captain that he never shied away from dealing with problems personally, he was always a hands on person. Sam’s blood began to cool slightly as the officers were ordered to relax and control was regained and order restored.
Sam picked up his drink and took a drink or two, with his free hand he scrolled through some information on his PADD regarding the current situation. “I think, as I was reminded earlier, we may be jumping the gun here already dealing with solutions; we haven’t completely looked at the problem.” Sam set down his PADD and drink “According to our scans, the planet contains an industrial civilization, no space technology. This would probably compare to Earth’s early 1900’s.” He took a deep breath “This would imply, if I understand it correctly, that they would have no knowledge of life outside of their planet; hence a pre-warp civilization… I hate to mention it, but wouldn’t this make it fall under the Prime Directive?” Sam didn’t like what he was saying, hated it would be a better term.
The Prime Directive and Sam usually never got along, although he understood why it was designed and implemented, the aftermath of its use sometimes gave pause to the people that were restricted by it. “Don’t misunderstand me, I’m not saying I agree with it, but we do need to be aware of the implications. I mean, there are 4.2 Billion lives we’re talking about here?” Sam looked to Lt. Samek “Lt., do we have any idea on the kind of damage we are talking about here?”

Samek looked to Commander Grant when he was asked “Lt., do we have any idea on the kind of damage we are talking about here?”
"Current estimates are that approximately 42% of the humanoid population would be incinerated or otherwise killed from shockwaves and tectonic disturbances. Within 45 days, average temperatures on the planet would drop approximately 12 degrees celcius due to the hydrogen fusion created during impact increasing the amount of cloud cover and decreasing the actual mass of the planet's atmosphere. Complete planetary population decimation is estimated within one year."

After some join the meeting Late and Grant asking Samek what he thought, when they were done Buford looks at Kinsley
"We fire it a few meters in front of it then when it enters the portal we close it" he says
then looking back at Grant "we could let them die because they don't have Warp like the Prime Directive says, but my Moral Directive says we can and should save them" Buford says calmly his voice shows no anger, his eyes show none Buford is good at hiding it, but Grab Foot can sense is displease in the thought of letting them die

He turned and gave a nod to Harsting when he finally spoke up and said "That will be enough, both of you", his whiskers involuntarily twitched
then he focused entirely on the meeting, forgetting the heated discussion he had with Kinsely. He focused on each person as suggestions were voiced, Grant mentioning the planet is a pre-warp cvilization and most likely wouldn't know of other races outside their planet. Speaking of the Prime Directive and how it would be against contact with a pre-warp race.
He turned his attention to Samek as he explained that almost half the population would be killed in the initial impact and the rest would die within a year of impact, due to global cooling and other effects. He gave a nod, thinking it is as he said, it would kill all life on the planet
An ear twitched toward the door as Doctor MacAuley entered and he turned his attnetion to Grant.
"I think we can at least try to save them without making contact and thus breaking the Prime Directive"
He too didn't like the Prime Directive, too many rules. He glanced at Buford as he spoke, and yes, he could tell he was displeased of the thought of letting the planet die. It only mirrored his own displeasure

Jim glanced at the table, thinking and taking in what was being said. Finally, he heard Lieutenant Grabfoot speak up and say "I think we can at least try to save them without making contact and thus breaking the Prime Directive."
"Let us not forget that adhering to the Prime Directive includes us not interfering in the natural evolution of this planet. That includes the extinction of the planet."

He looked at Captain Harsting taking in what he said, a look of displeasure on his face as he discussed the fate of a world on the brink of extinction. It did not leave him with a good feeling. Course, hardly anything does these days. His qhiskers quivered in thought about what Harsting said, then thought about what he was to respond with.
Finally making up his mind, his look of displeasure faded, replaced with a cool look of indifferance "Then why are we in here to discuss what we are to do then if the Prime Directive has already decided for us? If Fate has decided those people should die, then who are we to say otherwise. We should continue on with our curent mission instead of diverting to try and save a doomed planet"
His eyes remained locked with Harsting's, to guage his reaction, his ears open to the rest of the room to hear other reactions to his comment
