Captain's Log, Stardate 64823.71
The USS Terrasect, having recently undergone a standard refit, and having been resupplied, has been assigned back to the United Forces Fleet.
The Terrasect is currently docked at Starbase 234, under preparation to depart on a survey of the Zeta Raphadon Expanse, from which 6 of it's 18 stars have class-m planets in their Star Systems.
We will be the first Manned Federation Vessel to enter this expanse. I personally look forward to getting back to exploration over the recent issues we have endured.
I am currently awaiting the recall of a few officers after what has been a fairly lengthly shore leave.
End Log.

As Sam exited the Promenade after making his last round, he headed up towards the Main Bridge. As Sam walked, his mind wandered. A lot had occurred over the last year or so, friends and acquaintances that have come and gone, missions that have been achieved and failed, loves that have been obtained and lost.
Sam enjoyed his time aboard the Terrasect, he felt that he had been given a ‘second chance’ and had always felt like he owed it to the Captain to do his best, even better then his best at times. Sam knew exactly where the Captain would be, same place he could just about always be found, in that ‘Center Chair’.
Sam carried with him a PADD with all the updated Security and Tactical information regarding the Terrasect, now that she was being refitted. The nice part was that it was all good news, the Phaser array had been updated and additional storage allocated for Torpedo Storage, along with additional Shielding nodes to assist in keeping them up during a fire fight. All the Security Staff had been rescheduled and reallocated and the Ship’s Arms Locker had been filled and stowed.
Upon exiting the Turbo Lift, Sam saw Jim sitting in ‘The Chair’, smiling to himself he walked up to him. “Excuse me Sir, I have that information you were waiting for.” Started Sam, handing Captain Harsting the PADD he carried “Everything looks like we’ll be ready tactically to depart on time,” a smile creeping across his face “unless we get an unexpected amount of raw recruits again.”
Sam stood at attention as he spoke to the Captain, Sam still felt a little ‘stiff’ in his new pips with his new position. Being up among the ‘top-tier’ of the command hierarchy still seemed new and he tugged at his collar nonchalantly, but painfully obvious.

Jim sat on the bridge, going over various reports on his new chair, which had a wider right arm that easier displayed information. He surveyed the engineering readiness, and noted that civilian families had already started coming aboard. Their first mission was to be, at least on paper, fairly routine. They were taking on an additional 400 civilians for resettlement at Indri Omega 3, a small class-m world in the outer reaches of Federation Space. Even at maximum warp is was going to take weeks to get there.
One of the major improvements in this refit was to be the Slipstream Long Range Subspace Sensor Arrays. He had been working on this little pet project for a year or so now, and had submitted it to be done on the Terrasect as one of his last actions before he 'retired' from Admiralacy.
The sensors basically catagorized nearly everything in the subspace domain. However, due to the high speeds involved, the computer systems couldn't keep up with the read outs from the sensors. His fixes, including a larger buffer to store the information, was going to make it to where they could chart Star Systems and any subspace phenomina while at slipstream.
Jim heard the turbolift doors open, breaking him from his reverie. He glanced up, and saw the newly promoted Lt. Commander Grant. He smirked as the man approached him with a PADD in hand, and moved to attention.
“Excuse me Sir, I have that information you were waiting for.” Started Sam, handing Captain Harsting the PADD he carried “Everything looks like we’ll be ready tactically to depart on time,” a smile creeping across his face “unless we get an unexpected amount of raw recruits again.”
Jim smirked ever so slightly. "No, only 400-500 civilians for you to keep our new barkeeper from swindling." He looked over the report, then stopped, looking up at Sam slowly, as if not expecting him to still be like that. "You weren't that tense when I was an Admiral. Loosen up, man. At ease." He chuckled a bit, glancing back to the PADD that was handed to him. "You will probably want to forward these to our new Tactical Officer as well."

"Lieutenant Junior Grade Buford B Hound Helmsmen Reporting for duty Sir" hands his ISD to the Captain and stays at attention.
"At ease, Lieutenant." Jim then took the PADD. "Welcome aboard." Jim nods then to the Helm station, which was to the front and right if facing the view screen. "You station is there. You aren't on active duty until tomorrow, so might I recommend you take a look around the Terrasect, get yourself acquainted, and relax for your last day before duty."
Jim smiled a bit. "Again, Welcome Aboard."

Sam makes an audible ‘sigh’, just loud enough so that Jim could hear but not be heard by any other of the crew, at the mention of 400 some additional civilians; although it was not known if Sam was disappointed with that or the fact that he now had to deal with a Ferigni running a bar in his Promenade. The whole action meant for humor.
When Jim ‘jabbed’ at him for his stance and the like, Sam let out an embarrassed laugh “True.” He said “But then again, I never thought I’d pass 1st Lt. and be ‘out’ of the Security rankings… Just still a bit overwhelming.” Adjusting his stance to be more comfortable and relaxed, Sam actually leaned against one of the stations near them, crossing his arms as they spoke. Sam pointed an accusing finger at the Captain, and shook it like a scolding parent “You should just count yourself lucky that I remembered this time not to call you ‘Admiral’, and haven’t done so in at least a couple days…” Sam laughed.
Receiving the PADD back from the Captain he shook his head again, “Yeah, I’ll pass it along; I have to remember that I’m supposed to ‘delegate’ (making the quotation motion with his hands) now and do everything (while he rolls his eyes) myself.” He looks down at the floor and shakes his head, making a ‘tsk’ sound and looks back at the Captain “So many new things, I’m surprised that I haven’t lost everyone’s respect, I must be the oddest Lt. Commander in the whole fleet!”

Jim smirked ever so slightly. "Well, no offense to Admirals, but I was one of the oddest of them all anyways. At least I like to think myself not so stuffy." He shrugged a bit. "You're doing fine, Commander." He smirked. "Now all we need to do is get you into a red uniform and my life will be much easier." He chuckled.
Turning a bit more serious, though not a severe shift, he spoke again. "Just make sure Tog doesn't get into any trouble or end up hung off the Promenade. There are going to be a few rough customers aboard. There should be a listing of all of the passenger manifest in your office console. I was too lazy to procure a PADD for it."

Post by Lt Tail Kinker To~Settle Sand on Nov 5, 2007 10:50:19 GMT -5
Tail Kinker To~Eeiauo returned to camp after a successful hunt, carrying a handful of grabfoots and a pouch full of tailkinkers ( a local spice ) and under the loud clamor of some welcome-homes. The clamor died down and a couple of children, not hers, loped over and scrambled up and perched themselves on each shoulder. She gave them each a lick behind the ear and then they bent their heads to look down at the pouch she carried around her waist. Her tail spiraled into a corkscrewed loop, knowing they smelled the tailkinkers she had collected. She reached in and gave both the children one each and they scrambled down and scrambled away with their tails looped
She then heard a strange but familiar sound and her eyes traveled over to see the end of a transporter cycle. A couple other children, who had never seen the action, immediately scrambled over and up their mother's back, peering around their mother in a mix of fear and curiousity. One child asked her mother how the human was able to appear from out of nowhere? The mother responded by saying it is a technology that they use. The child flicked her ears back in amazement then looked back at the human with renewed curiousity. A few more adult sivaoans looked over to see what the strange sound was, their ears tilting forward as their curiousity rose.
The person that transported down in the middle of camp was attired in a StarFleet. From what she can remember, it was a Commander's uniform. The Commander looked around for a brief moment before calling out "Greetings. I come from the Federation ship, USS Hood, now orbiting your world. I come seeking Lt Tail Kinker To~Eeiauo. Is she here?"
A few moments passed before she stepped forward "I am Lt Tail Kinker To~Eeiauo. What news do you bring?"
The comander fixed his eyes on her and said "I bring you news of a new assignment. StarFleet Headquarters sent The Hood out here to take you there since we were the closest ship in the area" He paused to let her absorb what he has said
She gave him a nod of understand and turned toward her tent , then looked back over her shouder "Come. You can tell me of this new assignment while I pack. I had though StarFleet had forgotten about me, since I heard no news from them in quite some time" Her tail spiraled into another corkscrew with humor. The Commander just chuckled
SilverSpot and Stiff Tail, two adult Sivaosn came over and asked if they can help her pack. She nodded and they walked over and started pulling the stakes to her tent. The Commander walked over with her, saying "You've been assigned to the USS Terrasect as the Tactical Officer. Here is your orders to give to your Captain"
The two Sivaoans helping her pack, rolled her tent up like they would a sleeping back and handed it to her. She thanked them and then grabbed the other pack that held her uniform and comm badge, looked at the commander and said "Let's go"
42 hours later, she transported over to the Terrasect from the Hood, in uniform, and proceeded to the Bridge, with PADD in hand
She exited the TL and looked around the bridge, her eyes taking in her new surroundings. Her eyes then fell on two officers, one being the Security Chief the other holding the Captain's pips. She walks down and around and then stands at Attention before the other two officers, mainly before the Captain then states "Lt Tail Kinker To~Eeiauo reporting in as the Tactical Officer, Ssir"
She would then offer her PADD

Jim glanced up as Tail Kinker offered him her PADD and introduction. "Welcome aboard." He stood them, offering his hand. "I understand you were called back after a long while as an inactive officer. I apologize for having you asked back. Of course, if you would like to return to your home planet, it can be arranged, though I would very much miss your reputation at Tactical. We have many young and families in general to defend." Jim paused, awaiting her response.

Her ears flicked back with surprise at the Captain's words while she remained at attention. her whiskers then twitched in mild annoyance. She then asked him up front
"Ssir, If you asked for me to return and then did not want me, why did you ask me to return in the first place?" She paused then went on "If I had not wanted to return, I would have sent in my resignation and not come back with the Hood. As I am now here, as we both want me to be. If you still wish me to be here, then I shall defend the families and this ship from any who would dare attack" Her tail twitched as she remained at Attention, waiting for the Captain's response

Sam laughed at the thought of the Admiralty as being ‘stuffy’, it was a true enough term, albeit the nicest one that could be used. Most were ‘nobility’ and/or politicians that never saw combat or lead anyone, and were often quickly replaced/retired during open conflict due to their inability to perform correctly. Although he started to laugh, he almost choked as the Captain mentioned putting him in a Red Uniform.
Sam blushed as he coughed “Great” he started “It’d match…” as he coughed again “the color of my face.” After he cleared his throat, and tugged on his uniform to pull-out the kinks, he continued “I appreciate the compliment, ‘Sir’,” emphasizing the word with a smile “but I’m not sure how much easier having a ‘scraping fighter’ in Red would be.” He smiled.
As the Captain continued on, getting back to business, Sam nodded in agreement. “Agreed; too much paperwork…” when referring to the lynching of Tog. “I’ll keep an eye on him, I’m not looking for any unnecessary trouble either.” Sam thought about all the civilians aboard and wanted to make sure that they weren’t fighting the civilians and trying to protect the ship from outside threats as well. When Jim mentioned that he was just too lazy, Sam quipped back “No, you’re ‘delegating’…” he said “The joy’s of the Red Uniform.” he laughed.
As the new Officer approached, Sam stood up and listened to the introduction and laughed to himself as he though “Another Grabfoot indeed…” as Tail missed the humor in her own response; Sam remembered Lt. Grabfoot got hung up from time to time with it too, although it was generally amusing in itself. He reached out his hand and introduced himself “Lt. Commander Samuel Grant, Chief of Security. I’m curious, if you don’t mind me being so forward, would you happen to know of a Lt. Grabfoot of…” Sam thought a moment “Sivioa, I believe it was? I served with him two tours ago and you remind me of him; aside from the gender difference that is.” Sam displayed a professional and courteous smile at the new Lt.
Sam waited for her to answer and also handed her the PADD he was carrying, after she answered. “Although you’re not required to be at your post ‘today’, here is the updated Tactical information for you regarding our refitting. You may review it at your leisure.”

Her whiskers tilted forward then back in a Sivaoan nod to the Captain then looked at his outstretched hand toward her. Her ears tilted forward, she being curious and wondering why he was offering her hand. She then remembered the human gesture of a hand shake, a human greeting. Her ears flicked back in surpise and explaimed "Oh"! To The Captain and Lt Cmdr, it would mean that she remembered something. She then extended her own hand to shake Captain Harsting's "Thank you for the welcome and my tail is looped to be here" She said to Harsting
She then turned to the other male that spoke to her and was standing off to the side of her and Harsting. Her nostrils flared ever so slightly, catching his scent. He smelled human and she sensed he was attemtping to be friendly and perhaps a little humorous. She turned a bit, shaking Grant's hand as she heard his question, if she knew a Lt GrabFoot Of~Sivao. "No, I do not mind you being so foward, as you say. I knew him, but only in passing. We were in the academy together. Last I heard of him, he wanted to change his name to show he is an Eeiauoan and not a Sivaoan, like me. I know we look the same but we are different"
She then took the PADD grant offered and him saying it was the updated Tactical information on the Terrasect. Her tail automatically spiraled into a helix when she recieved the PADD. This is what she is here for, she thought, glancing at the information displayed on the PADD. She then looked back to Grant, ears moving forward again, her curiousity rising "Is GrabFoot Of Sivao on this vessel? He must be as you say you served with him and I can smell his scent"
She paused, waiting for Grant to answer
