She smiles "Of course not. So tell me what is your captain like? what is his command style like. Ive always wondered if there are differences in how romulan captains command." ::She sits down and starts to eat.::

He glanced to his Riov when he asked for everyone's attention and heard his words. His eyes lingered on the two Riovs a moment seeing his Riov touch the hand of the female Riov. A brow would raise slightly at that before he turned back to Lt Baccus hearing her story of her career
"You are right. There is little time for matters of the heart when we are being sent to where we are needed. The defense of our respective vessels and the empires they serve comes before personal gains"
He noticed that she wasn't eating her meal and made nopte of this before hearing her ask him if he would give her a tour of his vessel
"I would be very happy to escort a lovely female such as yourself and show you this fine vessel"
He started his meal, but he ate slowly, keeping an ear out for her next response

She smiles at him and decides to try a bit of the salad. She nibbles at the food. It tasted good, but she usually didn't eat when wasn't hungry and she hoped her hosts wouldn't be offended.
She looks at Terrh. "What are some other traditional Romulan dishes like? Perhaps the chef should be made aware that I can't stomach red meat, just in case they plan on serving it."

She listened as he explained what happened that in the college library. It explained a lot. She nodded as he spoke. Unknown to him she keep a watch on him for several years then decided it wouldn't make sense to continue. His path was clear. He was in love and it was with the Galae'.
She knew she couldn't compete and would not even venture an attempt. She too loved the Galae' but, she loved him more. In her 3rd year her GPA soared as the only distraction she had was well nothing. And now he was back.
She watched him stand and make the announcement and give the command for the dinner to start. As he sat down he placed his hand on hers. She felt the warmth of his touch, the strength of his essence and fought the smile that barely formed on her lips.
"Galan, and I am also truly happy at this moment. That is why I would like this to moment to last."
She took a taste of the gulten and smiled. "You remember my favorite soup. It is very good. I suppose you have the luxury of a private chef. Lucky you. On the NY we enjoy the flavors of the replicators."

Ael would listen to her question, gave a smirk when she asked of how hard it was working with humans. When she was first assigned to USS Phoenix, before being assigned to USS Terrasect and USS New York, she first experienced working with humans and other species that are not Romulans. She did find it hard to adjust at first, but she was able to work along side with them. RSE Ascension was the only Romulan ship she has served on before getting into the Romulan Exchange Program.
"At first, it was hard, but I learned to work around and with them after some time has passed.", she would reply to her.

He smiled. "I showed the chef how to cook it with the special spices my family have passed down for hundreds of years. I know you enjoyed the flavor when you visited. Having a chef is one of the small luxuries I allow myself. Most of the time though, I find myself nibbling in my ch'-Leih nniehv rhe (ready room). And before you say it, no in some ways I haven't changed."
He is silent for a few moments as he tastes his soup. Nodding he turns and says, " After the meal I would like to show you around the Dhivael. I know this has been one of your dreams since college. Though I am impressed with your service record on the New York. But tell me Eviess, what are these problems you had with an executive officer? In the Galea' a subordinate would surly never cause their Riov a problem." looking down at his ceremonial dagger for effect.
"Do lloann'mhrahel (Federation) crews not swear an oath to their commanders?"
As he waited for her response this new revelation reared up before him. He had noticed that the doctor and Vulcan were hesitant, but surely warriors in the lloann'mhrahel would abide by a strict code of honor. At least he knew Klingons did and they would die for their ship and honor.

"Hann'yyo rhissiuy (Thank you very much) for your insight Errien'Arrain Ael Hheinia."
The look on her face showed she was uneasy having to work with starfleet officers.

he took a bite of his meal with half of his attention on Lt Baccus when his mind drifted some. he started thinking of the delicasises from home, of some kali-fal or some vilnerine. When she posed her question, inquiring about some romulan dishes, he looked at her with a slight question in his eyes, which he didnt ask, thinking that she could be part betazoid. He then heard her mention that she couldn't stomach red meat and he made a note of this
"I was just thinking of some dishes of the homeworld, some Vilnerine or some kali-fal. Perhaps you were reading my mind?"
He added a bit of humor to his question, which is rare for him. He blinked after he realised what he said and how he said it. He began to wonder what was happening to him as he talked with the female security chief. Whatever it is, He hoped it wouldnt last long
"I do not believe that red meat, whatever that may be, is on the menu, but perhaps I should go and mention to the chef, or the riov of your dietary restrictions? It would not be a bother to me at all to do so"

"That's ok... don't bother. I don't want any special treatment." She nibbles at her salad a bit more. She was used to picking out the meat of most things and she didn't want to be rude by refusing a dish that no one else had a problem with.
"I may be half Vulcan, but I don't read minds unless I have to. It's an invasion of privacy. I was taught several techniques by a Betazoid, so I can pick up emotions when I am not suppressing the ability. So perhaps you should explain what the foods are. I don't carry around a Romulan menu description PADD."
She doesn't even realize she's making a joke back at him. It had been a very long time since she had been in a mood to deliberately make jokes.

"You have done justice to the recipe your family has handed to you. Many times we are far too busy to sit down and enjoy a well prepared and made meal. Its the price we pay, I suppose."
She finished her soup and wiped her mouth then tasted her salad. Nodding with a smile.
"Galan, I swear you have remember everything I enjoy even the salad. But then you have always been thoughtful, never change that."
"Being on a D-class does not seem to be the path I will walk. Not everyone does. It seems my curiosity in languages, and cultural customs of various worlds have placed me where I am. Since I left the war college, apart from the war of course, I have always been attached to ships that explore, or are in an exchange program of some sort. But its good to have a D-class involved. I have always said that from day one."
"From the lloann'mhrahel kunhri (Federation crew), do not look for nor expect an oath of loyalty. They have none as we do. Instead one is given as they enter service as a generalized oath to the organization Starfleet. To the Commanding officer they will serve under and to the ship none is made. It is understood the original oath will carry."
"At times I felt and still do the XO I had was more concerned for Starfleet then for the ship, crew or me. At one point, and I relay this so you will not fall prey to the same mistake. There was an excise were we supposed to remove a statue of a rebel leader from a public park. To demoralize the rebels, we were part of a 6 ship group. Each of us had a specific target."
"My tactical officer a Betazoid, who was an ensign at the time understood the order I gave and and the need for precision. The CNS at the time, raised the first of a series of arguments against it. Claiming that the Federation would be blamed for military action against our citizens."
"The XO then picked up on this along with one or two others, instead of standing with me and insuring this was done. I decided our presence was not really needed and left leaving the destruction of the statue to Riov Tebok."
"I continued to the next assignment. Once that was finished I was ordered home. An inquiry followed, because of the special circumstances surrounding this, where we were in the exchange program I was spared any serious repercussions."
"The reason for my actions were identified, then I studied under Khre'Riov Jarok. I learned far more then was necessary and for that I am grateful."
"Just remember this, it is what Khre'Riov Jarok told me. "This is an exchange program, we and they, will learn nothing if we bend to the will of their desires. We must be who are, they who they are, and learn to work with the differences."

I don't carry around a Romulan menu description PADD." When he heard her say that he cracked a smile and actually laughed a bit on that
"I'm afraid I do not carry one either. For me, I do not know how i is prepared, just the consumation of it. Perhaps, I can ask one of the chefs how it is prepared so that I may prepare it myself one day, or let my mate prepare it for the both of us"
He glanced at her when he said mate, looking to see what her reaction and her next response would be

"I am sure you would be a good cook, but if your mate has cooking experience, you might want to let her teach you."
She allows herself another smile. She had thought that she would not find anyone to talk to at this dinner. She was starting to enjoy herself and she was glad she had made a friend. Perhaps she could meet his mate someday as well.

He nods, hearing her words and definately noticing her smile. He would smile himself too. He found himself opening up to her as a friend and he thought it was a good feeling. He then wondered if they can be more than just friends? He shoved that thought to the back of his mind to ponder later
"I thank you for your kind and wise words. I am always willing to learn new things and would let my mate teach me her cooking skills, should I find one. I have been too busy with my career to think of a family. Perhaps, I should start looking.."
He said the last comment as an afterthought and awaited her response

"I'm sure on this ship full of ladies, you will have more than enough potential mates."
She looks around at the mostly female crew that was gathered from their ship. She wishes for a moment that she could be happy again, but knew better than to try. Happiness lasted for a short time, and pain of losing it never went away. She didn't want to risk anything anymore. She had lost her husband, she had lost her second chance... she didn't deserve anymore.
She turns back to her food and eats a little.
